Both sides of this argument are pure speculation until the time passes and the amount it takes for initial winds to carry any minute spec of dust across the ocean (since, presumably, after the explosion at reactor 1), there will either be a significant increase in radiation readings or a near none-noticeable one.

Now, like any good disaster, if there were any readings (both extremes, high and near none) in either situation, initial amounts would have to increase - more than one reactor blew/more than one fire recorded/plenty of things have happened in all.

Who knows, we may be able to track it with just the radiation network alone.

Either that or it passes by as barely a blip on the radar. Still, fact that there will be radioactive dust (more than before) in the skies sucks since, you know, rain comes from there. Water sure is nice; Heard a lot of things use it.

If the radiation is not killing the residents of Japan that have already been exposed to it, why do you think it would kill us here in America?
We are thousands of miles from there, they are like 20 miles from the source, i haven't heard of anyone dropping dead from radiation yet, even the workers who got high doses are still alive as far as i know.

We've been getting rain every night here on the southern Oregon coast. Wouldn't a lot of rain every day (offshore) tend to precipitate out most anything in the air, into the Pacific? Or is this stuff all the way up in the jet stream, and if so, then how much could make it down to the deck if it's way up there when it reaches landfall.

I'm a bit confused by all this.
