The test ban treaty group routinely does radiation projections in an effort to understand which of its global stations to activate for monitoring the worldwide ban on nuclear arms testing. It has more than 60 stations that sniff the air for radiation spikes and uses weather forecasts and powerful computers to model the transport of radiation on the winds.

On Wednesday, the agency declined to release its Japanese forecast, which The New York Times obtained from other sources. The forecast was distributed widely to the agency’s member states.


Earlier this week, the leading edge of the tangible plume was detected by the Navy’s Seventh Fleet when it was operating about 100 miles northeast of the reactor complex.

The United Nations has also detected radiation at its detector station in Gunma, Japan, which lies about 130 miles to the southwest.

Interesting how they are only talking about the airborne particulates, but they don't tell you enough about surface water contamination, ocean contamination, food chain contamination and ultimately your personal contamination. Where do we get our seafood from? Oh yeah, THE OCEAN.

Where do weather systems originate? Hurricanes? Oh yeah, THE OCEAN. Where do storms get their moisture from, oh yeah, THE OCEAN. Radioactive rain and snow, a new reality soon.

for the lady wanting to leave, if i were you i would go north. the jet stream usually heads east and then around the midwest drops straight south and then continues east. so if you go south, you may still be driving along the jet stream. I know I live in the midwest, south part. unless you go all the way to mid-south Arkansas or Louisiana you may still have a chance of being in the way. jet stream usually goes through the bottom of Missouri, usually right above hwy 44-i've always noticed it follows that highway across Missouri, most of the time (sometimes it dips below).

We all will die hun....eventually....whether its from radiation poisoning, extreme weather, car/plane crash, skydive jumping, heart attack, gun shot wound, etc etc etc...the list goes on...every day in the world people die...it is the process of life. What is important to remember, I feel anyway, is to recognize that each day we have is a gift. To not take for granted each second we are given by allowing our 'oh so busy' lives to disconnect us from the reason we are all here. And that reason, I believe, is to become One with our Creator. To realise that there is a connection between each soul on this earth and the Creator of all things...that is the secret. Our Creator, by whatever name you may call him/her, is the One Source that gives us all life. Each living Being comes from One Source. We are all connected on a spiritual level, although most do not see past the physical. Imagine, if you will, a large puzzle. Each piece connects to each other to make a big picture, although all the pieces are different colors and sizes. The people closest to you in your life, are the pieces closest to you...but yet those pieces branch out to all the others, making it a whole. The puzzle could not be completed without all the pieces together, therefore you are here for a reason, and very important in this puzzle we call Life. One day, in our own due time, each soul on this earth will leave their physical form and at that time, I believe, will move on to the next realm of our Being. What that holds, I do not pretend to know...who am I after all, but a human being trying to understand what all the other humans out there have been trying to figure out from the moment they were born...why are we here, where do we come from, where do we go from here?? These, I'm sure, are questions we've all asked, no matter what race, religion, country, or wherever we come from. What I have found though, through the course of my 34 years of inhaling oxygen on this planet, is that if I just quit asking these questions and just start accepting all that is to be, to just be, then this life isn't quite as difficult as I always made it out to be. Whether good, bad, ugly, or sad...this life is. We cannot control what the people around us do (now I mean this on large and small scale), but we can control how we react to it. No matter what comes your way, keep a calm head and know that things are as they should be. Accept that, and the rest will fall into place...
I know I've gone on and on here, but I felt a need to express these things to you and anybody else out there who is still reading. This life we have is not to be taken for granted...love those close to you, as well as those afar, for we are all one with each other. Accept all that comes your way, and be ok with it, as hard as that may sound. Be at peace, my friend, for you are loved.

From all my reading it seems as though we will not need to die of radiation fallout if we watch the winds and the levels and stay inside on days of high readings. problem is, how long and how many days will that be?
the long term real problem is the food chain. how will we know what to eat/not eat in weeks and months,years to come? and WATER?
I'd stock up on canned goods and bottled water.

Take stock in afew facts please!!!!! in the 40's and 50's they tested over 900 above ground nuclear tests, I know that because I lived during those days... lived along the Oregon border <pre California toilet overflowing to Oregon> then during the war there were 2 nuclear bombs dropped on Japan. We are still here I lived to be an old lady regardless.. no ill affects anywhere but the direct locations.

Spend a day in the sun and get sun burned you will get more ratiation than what we could possibly have come this way.
