Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1298952I hardly doubt they are worried about some idiots getting stomach aches and the shits. I'm glad I was able to get mine in time. There were only two bottles left when I finally found some in rural North Dakota. Even rural ND is being sold out its crazy. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1154992 Canada 03/18/2011 02:07 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | here's a true conspiracy theorist's assessment - maybe they won't be available till april because they need time to put together iodine remedies that actually contain either: rfd chip - for keeping tabs on us toxic element/substance - for mass culling of the herd all under the guise of 'keeping us safe', and of course, we'll be lining up/begging for it. how's that for a theory. and, by the way, i'm from vancouver island, and your sister's not kidding - very little if any, iodine or thyroshield still available. not trying to make light of the issue, just saying that it seems slightly suspicious to me that the gov't is supposedly stockpiling it...my question is, why and for what purpose?? |

Yeah I was able to get a few bottles of tincture and Betadinel Whatever the " new pill" is, don't take it! Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1093771I thought the same thing!! My buddy in florida went into a walgreens or cvs, I forgot which one, and he asked the pharmacist for iodine tincture and she was snotty and said I know why you want that, if you need it the government will provide it to you. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 755963This was how I felt as well, until I found a very kind pharmacist. here's a true conspiracy theorist's assessment - maybe they won't be available till april because they need time to put together iodine remedies that actually contain either: Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1154992rfd chip - for keeping tabs on us toxic element/substance - for mass culling of the herd all under the guise of 'keeping us safe', and of course, we'll be lining up/begging for it. how's that for a theory. and, by the way, i'm from vancouver island, and your sister's not kidding - very little if any, iodine or thyroshield still available. not trying to make light of the issue, just saying that it seems slightly suspicious to me that the gov't is supposedly stockpiling it...my question is, why and for what purpose?? Anonymous Coward User ID: 1302144 United States 03/18/2011 02:20 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I bought some about fifteen years ago. $50 for a small bottle. I still have them even though they have expired by ten years. I would still use them if need be. Op, kelp and other types of sea weed are suppose to be very effective against radiation. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1276620Yeah, I bought 4 bottles in 2005 that are very likely expired by now. I've kept two of them in each of two bug-out bags that I have; one in the car, one in the house. The ones in the car have been exposed to freezing cold and extreme heat from the weather. Anyone have a guess what that might do to potassium iodide pills? |
Nic (OP) User ID: 1296974 Canada 03/18/2011 02:24 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I just want to expand on this a bit, when I finally dealt with the pharmacy I did, I had a lovely lady pharmacist who I found out is from Poland, she told my husband that when Chernobyl happened they used the same stuff, and she also asked us for the current dosing info applied to skin as she was not very up on her info and had several people calling daily. Compare this to other locations I called who were snide and said they had nothing. ugh |

I believe they have to get pretty old before it matters at all...KI stores very well...even if they are affected...I am pretty sure they just become less water soluble and not less active...so you might want to bust the tabs up some before you take them...but that'd be about it...please check before leaping though... ____________________________________________________ E-mail anytime [email protected] Inquiring about a ban?, include the IP address found here. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1298952That's exactly what they were reporting on the local news. Pharmacists were advised not to dispense OTC. There is real concern people are in panic mode and do not know how or when to take it properly. There are side effects! Eat a bunch of kelp and miso soup. No conspiracy here. Move along folks. |

Quoting: NicVancouver Island My family is in Surrey, very worried. Maybe this will help?: [link to www.timescolonist.com] Plus I saw our local news do a segment on radiation. They had a Geiger counter and went around to different objects and explained what's considered normal background radiation. I think for us on the west coast is being prepared in other ways. Duct tape and plastic sheeting to protect our doors and windows if necessary. Being stocked up food and water wise. Pills? Meh. Eat a detoxifying diet. I think this whole pill thing has gotten way out of hand. jmho |

No one had it stock. It was like they had no idea what the stuff even was. Sheeple at it's best but then again no one expected to have a jetstream of radiation coming our way neither. |
