Is USA close to economic collapse?
Is USA still looking as close to economic collapse?

Here are 11 signs of things turning ugly:

1) When Wal-Mart is closing stores you know things are not good. Wal-Mart announced on Monday that it will close 10 money-losing Sam's Club stores and will cut 1,500 jobs in order to reduce costs. So if Wal-Mart has to shut down stores, what chance do other stores etc have?

2) Americans are going broke very quickly. 1.41 million Americans filed for personal bankruptcy in 2009 - a 32 percent increase over 2008.

3) American workers are working harder than ever and yet making less. After adjusting for inflation, pay for production and non-supervisory workers (80 percent of the private workforce) is 9% lower than it was in 1973. But those Americans who do still have jobs are the lucky ones.

4) Unemployment is rising all over the United States. Minority groups have been hit particularly hard. For example, unemployment on many U.S. Indian reservations is over 80 percent.

5) Unfortunately the employment situation is showing no signs of turning around. December was actually the worst month for U.S. unemployment since the so-called "Great Recession" began.

6) So just how bad are things when compared to past recessions? During the 2001 recession, the U.S. economy lost 2% of its jobs and it took four years to get them back. This time the U.S. economy has lost more than 5% of its jobs and there is no sign that the bleeding of jobs will stop any time soon.

7) Can you imagine trying to get your first job in this economic climate? Our young men and women either can't get work or have given up on work altogether. The percentage of Americans 16 to 24 who have jobs is 13 percent lower than ten years ago.

8) So where did all the jobs go? Over the past few decades we have allowed the corporate giants to ship mountains of American jobs overseas, and there are signs that this trend is only going to get worse. In fact, Princeton University economist Alan S. Blinder estimates that 22% to 29% of all current U.S. jobs will be offshorable within two decades. So get ready for even more of our jobs to be shipped off to Mexico, China and India.

9) All of these job losses are leading to defaults on mortgages. Over the past couple of years we have seen the American Dream in reverse. According to a report that was just released, delinquent home loans at government-controlled mortgage finance giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac surged 20 percent from July through September.

10) But that is nothing compared to what is coming. A massive "second wave" of mortgage defaults is getting ready to hit the U.S. economy starting in 2010. In fact, this "second wave" is so frightening that even 60 Minutes is reporting on it.

#11) Meanwhile, the Federal Reserve has announced that it made a record profit of $46.1 billion in 2009. Apparently during this economic crisis it is a very good time to be a bankster.

That was from January. Are things still going that way or are there any signs of life as some articles suggest?

It's not close to collapse, it's past that, the US has been collapsing for some while now, not sure where to draw the line but it's obvious that the economy is being propped up people... by their blood, sweat and tears and their futures.

It's a collaps allright, just isn't showing in the financial ecnonomy, but in the physical.

I'm not even sure if it stops there, one could argue that you've been experiencing a cultural and moral collapse as well... but that's another story perhaps.

Re: Is USA close to economic collapse?
Will the U.S. dramatically implode like the U.S.S.R.? No, but we [and the the western 1st world] have gone through and are still experiencing a very major financial crisis brought on by serious fundamental under-lying economic problems, that are not being seriously addressed. Example: the too big to fail banks and corporations are getting even larger and are consolidating their power like never before. And of course the public and private debt problem is severe. We are IMHO heading into basically 'Lost' years, and who know how long it'll be before we get back to pre-autumn 2008 normal. Maybe never. Worse case scenario: we slowly, steadily decline; but that's something that'll take decades.

Who knows. The US economy is definitely in bad shape but who knows if this will ever result in a full-blown, in-your-face collapse. They seem to be hell bent on making back room tweeks, altering reports for the best PR, and dishing out "everything is A OK" news blurbs.

You and I (the average citizen) may never actually experience anything more than poor employment prospects, and increased fuel and grocery prices while life goes on and on in a never ending loop of celebrity overload.

Or, TPTB might actually lose their grip on the reins and all bets will be off.

Either, Or...

Who knows?

Even with the Great depression you could find some jobs that you wouldn't normally do. Now with every damn country being flooded by illegals with all that multiculturalism trend and acceptance and shit you can't even do that!
I guess people will have to resort in eating each other soon, after welfare and unemployment benefits runs out for everyone.

What happened with Japan is certainly a push to that direction. How big or small it remains to be seen. Nothing is visible yet because the sheeple don't know the inner workings of the economic cabal and the hidden system they created. I am pretty sure they are leaving the people to die there from radiation until they have a plan set for the cabal to cover their asses before they have to abandon their assets and find new alliances and THEN and only then will they start telling the truth about how bad the situation is over there.
I believe every system that they can use as an asset they have created to their liking, for one reason or the other will be falling like dominoes one after the other while they will still be striving for the multicultural globalization shit until they plunge all the world in to chaos because they will not be having any other alternatives to retain control.

God help us.

I work in a hospital, so I see a difference there. People being "fired", but many really just being redeployed. It is far too understaffed. Most people are stressed. Low morale was reported in hospital staff: no surprise there.
Hospitals are working to going private, but they won't admit it yet.

We r in this situation because everyone started making terrible decisions that dont benefit people the way it was implied to. It is very hard to get back to a healthy econamy but it is possable. If everyone was educated, the way a perfect world would run, we would not have problems with jobs.

UK basic economic fundamentals are pretty dire. Basically, all the UK's economic eggs have been put in one basket, the City of London [banks, financial services.] The UK also has few natural resources, and has a high population density.

The U.S. is also in dire straits [not the band!] and I'm not minimizing it by mocking the UK. But, the U.S. in and of itself, minus exports, has a huge home market, is rich in natural resources, and simply has more to fall back on than the UK. At the end of the day, the U.S. is self-sustaining. It has the capacity domestically to grow it's own food, supply it's own energy, etc.,

And yeah, Sweden legalized child porn [literally; I'm not talking teens...I mean children, 5,6,8,10 years old] during the entire decade [or most of it] of the 1970s.
