In a fission bomb you have two subcritical mass of uranium or plutonium- either in the gun type or implosion type.
Yet these subcritical masses are seperated by a vacuum and not much space. What keeps the temperature of the bomb low so that it doesnt melt?
Is it just a matter of distabce between the nuclear material? thanks
