Oregon Earthquake?
Anyone that is watching the earthquake maps can see that everywhere on the west coast is getting earthquakes but Oregon. Does this mean all those places are releasing pressure, where as the point in the plate by Oregon is building it up and getting ready to release a megaquake?

Re: Oregon Earthquake?
Just seems weird that every spot but the Oregon coast is getting them.

Re: Oregon Earthquake?
Didn't you recently have some big ones in the ocean right by you? Thought I saw them on USGS.

Re: Oregon Earthquake?
There was a 5.0 and a 5.9 on the USGS map about three weeks back but since the map goes back just two weeks I can't see it now. All the rest were under 3.0. I thought perhaps these numbers explained several incidents of boxes and things falling down and things flying off shelves in the last few weeks. I was getting spooked about ghosties but when I saw there had been some notable seismic action I decided that might be the cause of it. Still, the 5.9 seems like that would have been felt somehow.

An EQ in the PNW would probably be ridiculously devastating to infrastructure since there are tons of early-mid 20th century buildings and pretty much nil in the way of buildings that could withstand anything. A small one in '93 split the Oregon capital building.

Perhaps more worrisome for PNW residents not directly on the coast are the Cascades, which are nothing but a gang of volcanoes that could blow anytime.

Re: Oregon Earthquake?
The Cascadia subduction zone could go again at anytime though historical it happens every 400-600 years and that last megathrust EQ was in 1700, so it's only been 311 years. Oh, I don't like that #! 3/11 was the date of the Japan EQ! hiding

That 1700 EQ there created a tsunami in Japan. That evidence as well as tree rings of trees swept away show that the date was in 1700.
