Almost the entire Bible – from Genesis to Jude anyway – talks about freewill, our choice of whether we believe (have faith) that there is a God, the freewill to worship Him, the freewill to try and live a holy life. By the same rules, we also have the freewill to turn away from God, to mock Him, to spurn Him.

The Bible is textually pure, about 99%.
Beyond this, one cannot debunk what the Bible says, because in the end it boils down to belief(faith).

Either you believe it or you don't.
How can you say you believe it or not if you have not read it?
If you have not read it, then you are choosing to believe in your own ignorance.

I've read the bible. I was once very devout.
I dare not think God "dumbed" down his omniscient intellect with the biblical writings so that our minds could comprehend his teachings to such a lesser extent than perhaps was realized.

While it is true that Religion has churned its own teachings via interpretation and/ (or make believe) I am aware of the great knowledge within the bible.

How a God can command genocide, telling a man to murder his only son (as a test) when he's supposed to be all knowing doesn't sit well with me. Sure, God could have known Abraham was going to kill his son anyway on that mountain but he needed proof? Or was this tale man made from inception? Many things don't make sense to me:

Alas...the nature of belief...It can be this way.

God new he would do it because God knows all. Does this mean that Abraham didn't have to live through this test of faith? No. After this Abraham's faith was much stronger. And lets not forget that even if God allowed him to follow through Abraham was sending his son to a better place anyways, home.
