Re: AT&T buys t mobile for $39 billion
I used to have Bellsouth as our phone and internet company.

Couple years ago AT&T bought them out, They came in and upgraded everything, Even gave me a free upgrade to 6.0MBs from 3.0MBs after expanding their High Speed coverage area.

Nothing to complain about from AT&T

Do you predict any cool upgrades for T-Mobile cell phone users?

This is all according to plan. It consolidates the network so that the kill switch implementation is less complex. Also the new fire walls and internet censoring which is on the way becomes less complex. Very smart move by the regime.

Re: AT&T buys t mobile for $39 billion
T-Mobile also has a huge GSM network in the united states, larger than AT@T.

From Wiki:

The U.S. T-Mobile network predominately uses the GSM/GPRS/EDGE 1900 MHz frequency-band, making it the second-largest 1900 MHz network in the United States[citation needed], only behind Sprint PCS, which uses CDMA technology. Service is available in 98 of the 100 largest markets and 268 million potential customers (POPS). In September 2008 T-Mobile began rolling out its 3G network (operating on the 1700 MHz band) to service G1 customers in 14 initial cities. T-Mobile's UMTS (3G) service is now active in over 30 major US cities and operates on over 15 new devices.

T-Mobile USA uses the 1700/2100 MHz AWS Band for its 3G network. The carrier states it allows faster download and upload data speeds utilizing HSPA+ technology, which allows for simultaneous voice and data. Upgrades to HSPA+ are planned for 2009 through 2010 which may boost average download speeds from 7.2Mbps to 21Mbps.[30]

Fuck!!! I switched to T-Mobile to get away from those low life scumbags...

What makes you think TMO are also low life scum?

Switch to a good prepaid. Prepaid plans today are better deals than post-paid. I get unlimited everything [phone anywhere US/Canada, unlimited internet, email, text, etc., for 50 bucks/mth. ONLY 50 bucks, never fluctuates. No hidden fees, etc., Couldn't be happier. AND I can tether the phone to a laptop.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1275713

from who are you buying your prepaid minutes?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 988441

MetroPCS. Google them and yeah, you'll get people bitching about customer service, which is bad; but it's easy to set up, and I never have to call them or even go into one of their stores. My service is always good-excellent [northeast] and what you get for the price is far better than a post paid big carrier service contract. I always pay the same thing every month [again, no contract]. It doesn't change month to month with added fees, etc., AT&T, TMO, etc., always do. And I've actually on occasion used multiple gigs [including tethering to a laptop] and never had any problem.

Unlimited calling [all U.S./Canada]
Unlimited text
Unlimited internet
Tethering

Straight $40. They have 45 and 50 plans also.

Virgin prepaid $25. unlimited data - 300 minute call plan is a great deal also.

FUCK! There are reasons to stay away from AT&T!!!
If this goes through all the way, I am going with Virgin, like someone else said.

I've had T-Mobile for about 10 years and I will drop it like a hot lead potato if AT&T gets their grubby little hands on it.

me to! I've called cust service today a few times just to hear what they have to say - all told me that there will be up to 12 months for this deal to go trough or not.

another rhetorical question - how for an example Austria, Bulgaria, Germany (countries the size of TN) have at least 5-6 mobile operators and the US have 3?!

AT&T to fight 'dire predictions' in T-Mobile buy-out

AT&T plans to argue that wireless competition is robust and consolidation was inevitable as it works to usher its purchase of T-Mobile past regulators at the Justice Department and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

AT&T's top policy executive Jim Cicconi said in an interview Sunday that he is prepared to confront the serious competition concerns that may be raised on Capitol Hill and in the administration.

"I think there's an argument that, one way or another, consolidation would've occurred in this direction," Cicconi said.

He added: "You start out hearing dire predictions about the impact on consumers, but almost none of those have proven true in the wireless industry."

Re: AT&T buys t mobile for $39 billion
Thank GOD!

THere was way toooooooo much competition in cellular corporations. Why, here I have a giant total of 4 to choose from (and that's if I consider Cricket to be on par with the other 3).

All the time and energy spending 45 minutes to see who has the best deal is terrible.

Hopefully we will have just 1 or 2 to choose from so it will be real convenient for the public. I know service always improves when there is no competition!!!

"The business of the journalists is to destroy the truth, to lie outright, to pervert, to vilify, to fawn at the feet of mammon, and to sell his country and his race for his daily bread. You know it and I know it, and what folly is this toasting an independent press? We are the tools and vassals of rich men behind the scenes. We are the jumping jacks, they pull the strings and we dance. Our talents, our possibilities and our lives are all the property of other men. We are intellectual prostitutes."

I had ATT for years and honestly never had a problem with them. Then again I barely use my phone lol

A few months ago I switched to Virgin mobile because it's way cheaper. I'm saving about $45 each month now...
