Yes. We should also restrict what they can buy with government money. Being on welfare is a punishment, and should have results as such.

Poor decisions = shitty situation.

Shitty situation = motivation

Maybe I read it wrong but ni reading the bill section of it, it seems to me it says you are able to withdraw up to $20 of your public assistance money into a cash form per month. I didn't see it say anywhere that having more than $20 on you would be a crime....

The corners of the wheat field to not equate with free wine, cash to buy mo' crack or more porn. Read the book of Ruth for an update about Ancient Dviniely ordered assistance to the poor.

Yeheshuah also said you will always have them so don't get too excited about it.....I have no wheat to share and barely can buy grocreries after 32 years in my field.

I can't wait for the bus down by the river where we are all headed. We can talk about the mo'fo's who put us there sleeping in truck beds covered with blue and orange Walmart tarps....Hey! it will look like an Auburn homecomign with the tents and shit.Cool!

I hope you realize that welfare is a divine provision sanctioned by direct edict in the Holy Scriptures.

Rich landowners are commanded to leave a portion of their produce for the poor.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1305826

Wrong. True, rich landowners were commanded to LEAVE 10% of their crops IN THE FIELD, where the poor could come and WORK to harvest for their daily bread. Like a U-Pick.

NOWHERE in the Bible does it say the GOVERNMENT should come and TAKE from the landowners to RE-DISTRIBUTE to the poor (after taking their own cut, of course).

The first is self-sufficiency, the second is welfare. There's a total difference between the two.

There is nothing i can do to stop this theft of my labor that will not result in going to jail - this is slavery, Mr UK.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 501151

That's not true. Paying taxes is a choice, and there are several ways around it. Of course, it's much easier if you make your own money independently, and a little harder if you're an employed wage-slave. Still, it's your choice.

Anyone receiving taxpayer money for sloth ought to be harassed mercilessly. With public money comes public accountability. if they don't like it then get the hell off welfare. I applaud the republican's efforts to represent productive citizens instead of society's parasites.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1293117

So everyone who has lost a job due to outsourcing should be publicly shamed and humiliated?

You people are seriously fucking retarded.

What they're doing is making it impossible for people to get off of welfare. If welfare recipients can't save money, then they can never hope to get out of poverty. I thought you guys were smart enough to see that?

You and the 'author' of that stupid piece are both idiots...

What the proposed law says is that the 'poor' people on State Assistance can not use their 'food stamp' debit-card to get cash from machines...

They are supposed to be used for FOOD...

WTF?

You can't use food cards to get cash from machines anyways.
Food cards won't work in ATM's btw.

Welfare is only for the poor. When a Farmer gets a 3 million Dollar Check from the Government that is a Subsidy.

You do all realize they are actually talking with he World Bank (all welfare and unemployment debit cards are through the World Bank) about taking everyone Cashless in order to stop "illegal" activity. This start is just the first step in implementing that agenda.
IF you let them do this to the poorest among us then you will certainly be next.

Just look at all the libtard comments under the article in the link. None of the retards seem to understand that. What a bunch of idiots!
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1293117

LOL!! Did you notice that there were 27 comments all about how nasty the "Republithugs" were to victimize poor people like that before someone actually looked the Bill up and read it?! All the Bill says is that they can't use their food stamp card to get more than $20 cash, the presumption being that then the cash would then be spent for soap, toilet paper, etc. that food stamps wouldn't normally cover.

Actually, that's a good idea; I often wondered why the food stamp program doesn't give out some sort of voucher for soap, toilet paper, feminine monthly products, etc. Don't they think that poor people wash their clothes or wipe their butts?

And as for all the assertions about how mean-spirited the REPUBLICANS are, I live in the DEMOCRATIC stronghold of Oregon. Several years ago, my friend (who is dead now) escaped a horribly abusive marriage. She was also disabled. She went to the State for help. Result? $100 per month in food stamps,(which was "adjusted" any time there was a raise in the Social Security they deducted that much from her food stamps) and a THREE-YEAR WAIT for "Section 8" housing (trans: a crappy one-bedroom apartment located in buildings populated with gang members, drug dealers, and prostitutes). When she asked what she was supposed to do until then, the compassionate DEMOCRAT State worker told her "Live in your car.". The hilarious (rampant sarcasm) part of this was that when she went to go see them after three years, they had LOST HER PAPERWORK and she had to wait ANOTHER three years!!!!

read the link again. lawmaker is pulling the state to make new law for poor people who receiving welfare cannot receive any more money in their pocket such as "under the table job" stuff like that so.
 Quoting: chevyrwicked

Makes a lot of sense. If they are on welfare and they have much money, they either have a job or are dealing drugs or something like, in which case they should not be on welfare.

1305826-Welfare in the bible is by the individual, NOT by the government. Go to the books of Samuel where the people want a king to rule them instead of God and see what he has to say about a king(government). If you want to read the bible in your own language see holybiblefoundation.org. They have bibles in dozens of languages for free download.

good grief, do all you libs have a comprehension problem? they cannot convert the GOVERNMENT / TAXPAYER FUNDED WELFARE PAYMENTS TO CASH. The money is for basic living needs, not gambling in Vegas or cigs.

This might suck, but in my world, there would BE NO WELFARE, so be happy.

Meaning anyone who has been out of a job and living off handouts, not looking for a job, sitting around on their behind for months or YEARS on end......should be harrassed mercilessly.....meaning should have to submit to a drug test, should have to provide REAL evidence of application for jobs that they're qualified for, should have to jump through hoops, etc.

How can you read that legislation and come away with the idea that Republicans are trying to "criminalize poverty" or "the poor are not allowed to have money" unless you are either insane or have a 3rd grade reading level?
