LOL!! Did you notice that there were 27 comments all about how nasty the "Republithugs" were to victimize poor people like that before someone actually looked the Bill up and read it?! All the Bill says is that they can't use their food stamp card to get more than $20 cash, the presumption being that then the cash would then be spent for soap, toilet paper, etc. that food stamps wouldn't normally cover.

Actually, that's a good idea; I often wondered why the food stamp program doesn't give out some sort of voucher for soap, toilet paper, feminine monthly products, etc. Don't they think that poor people wash their clothes or wipe their butts?

And as for all the assertions about how mean-spirited the REPUBLICANS are, I live in the DEMOCRATIC stronghold of Oregon. Several years ago, my friend (who is dead now) escaped a horribly abusive marriage. She was also disabled. She went to the State for help. Result? $100 per month in food stamps,(which was "adjusted" any time there was a raise in the Social Security they deducted that much from her food stamps) and a THREE-YEAR WAIT for "Section 8" housing (trans: a crappy one-bedroom apartment located in buildings populated with gang members, drug dealers, and prostitutes). When she asked what she was supposed to do until then, the compassionate DEMOCRAT State worker told her "Live in your car.". The hilarious (rampant sarcasm) part of this was that when she went to go see them after three years, they had LOST HER PAPERWORK and she had to wait ANOTHER three years!!!!
