I've been interested in 2012 for some time now. There are many theories on what happens during the winter solstice of 2012, this is just another theory. Theories are scary but what really scares me are the facts.
Most of the facts I have on 2012, the astronomical events which will occur in 2012 I absorbed from watching alot of the history channel. Honestly they have good sources.

Climate change, pole shifts, asteroid impacts, ect. These could all spell disaster and the end of our civilization.

Unfortunately for us if an apocolyptic event occurs it is most likely the worst out of all the scenario's. Gamma Ray Burst

Looking at the night sky in low light polution areas you can see a band of clustered stars, the milky way.

In the middle of this is a dark area the dark rift. The Hopie indians referred to this as mother of creation and the Mayans made the dark rift a very important part of their calendar.

At the end of Each Baktun (13,000 year cycle) our sun aligns with the dark rift.
What does this mean for everyday people, the sun will rise with the milky way behind it, an alignment of our sun and the center fo the milky way galaxy.
You can skip this next paragraph if you understand what it will look like, everyone else here is the explanation.
We have a spiral galaxy normally in pictures you would get a top down view where you see the bright light at the center and the spirals arms at the edge of the galaxy.
When our sun is in alignment in 2012 think of the galaxy from a side view basically a flat horizontal line ______. Sometimes our sun is above this "center" line or below, at the end each baktun our sun would be in the same position as the horizontal line I referred to earlier. With our sun in the middle picture this ______O______


Those are the facts events that will occur in 2012 now I will move onto mayan culture and some speculation about the dark rift. Lets jump ahead to the Summer solstice of 2012. The mayans predicted the last eclipses of 2012 and built a temple on an island in the south pacific. You might ask yourself impossible they were not a seafaring people. Please view a program called apocalypse island it lends some new insights on the mayans. This island is kinda off topic but I strongly suggest everyone research this. I guess it isn't that incredible that the mayans could predict the last eclipses before the end of their calendar in comparison to everything else they could predict.

Scientists believe the blackhole in the center of the milky way is on a wobble, from watching apocalypse island I am more convinced now than ever that a gamma ray burst will eminate from the center of our galaxy and cause a wave of concentrated high entergy particles to bombard the earth and cause another massive extinction. This would certainly end many species stay on this planet, those that survive would mutate and branch off into new species. So as one candle's flame is extinguished anothers is lit. And darwins theory would come into effect.

There's a card labeled "The Messiah" but strangely the bottom half of the card with the instructions is missing and only the top portion with the image is shown.

Also a card called the "Religious Reich" is missing its' instructions.

There's one called "Post Office" showing a worker firing a gun.

A card called "Population Reduction" which instructs you can destroy up to five huge places without recourse up till World War III.

One card allows you to control pro football. (I knew it, bastards!)

One card allows you to destroy a place after it rains frogs.

Saddam Hussein's card gave him the power to stop the action of any one government group.

"Saturday morning cartoons" enables puppets to become violent.
