Cuz he shouldn't have put the word DOLLARS on them.

I know what the legal definition of a dollar is, so many grains of silver.

But DOLLAR - that's THEIR term.

You can make your own coins of approximately the same weight to use for trade or as a unit of currency but dammit, you gotta call it something DIFFERENT.

Call the coin a GELP, in honor of GLP!\

But don't call it a dollar! Cuz only the US gubmint and the Fed Reserve and all the bankster types have the authority to print/coin DOLLARS!!!

Well this is crap.. If i want to make coins with the intent for their distribution and use as legal tender, i have all the freedom in the world to believe i can do that. And if i try to pass it off as legal tender, well whose job is it to make sure it IS legal tender? The REAL-criminal counterfeiters? HAH!

So it's illegal to make a personal currency?
So would stores that offer in store credit be breaking the law?
I'm so confused.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1100729

the thing about in store credit and gift cards is that in many states they are covered by "escheat laws" and if unclaimed for a certain period of time the state takes a big cut of that money

but either way those are still based in US dollars and sales tax is still charged, and in store credits are still accounted for under GAAP in terms of USD
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1292333

I guess since a tax has already been paid then the in- store credit is legit .
Finding a way for the reserve to allow the guys Ron Paul money to be taxed would make it ok?
Taxation with out representation!

they are charging him with economic terrorism. Glen Beck talked about him. watch glen beck. com. Glen also talked about the union leader who wanted to bring down JP Morgan and start a movement where people foreclosed on will stay in their homes. Sounds like Glen wants them in jail.

So the guy takes a perfectly good smooth piece of silver that would have been a quiet object for exchange and instead turns it into an uncomfortable liability with a ridiculous stamp with Ron Paul's face on it.

Why not Mr. Natural or Angelfood McSpade?

If he really wanted to terrorize people he'd have put Obamas' flappy mug on the coin.

Your presumption is incorrect about the word-term "dollar." There is no copyright nor can a copyright be issued as the word predates the formation of the United States.

Dollar is a perversion of a family name. It was associated with coins of silver that changed in weight and purity over a period of about 350 years. Started in the old kingdom of Bohemia (about where Croatia is now). Wikipedia has a nice detailed history - I'm working from memory.

The word was variously Taler, Thaler, Daler, and finally "Dollar."

About 1873 +/- the redemption of the dollar notes was changed from silver to gold. I personally believe the banksters already then had a plan. That famous "Cross of Gold" speech from Bryan who was running for president was about that act which he characterized as a crime. There is actually a youtube with that speech.

Here is the wikipedia piece on the history of the us dollar:
[link to en.wikipedia.org]

Douglas Gnazzo wrote a five part series in 2005 that says basically that silver is the lawful money of the states and gold was only priced in relationship to silver.

Its all there with live links at the bottom of page 9

Sorry, but I know too many people who were in the "freedom" movement who marched into court like they were gonna show the judge who's boss...

and they made declarations like "I'm a U.S. citizen..." "I'm a resident..." etc.

and they had no idea what those words meant

and they got railroaded into jail.

they are legal terms and they mean something to the gubmint.

You wanna call yourself by the gubmint's terms, you're gonna lose.

You wanna play ball in their court, you're gonna lose.

Fear has nothing to do with it. Ignorance does. Ignorance of legal terms and the ramifications of spouting words without knowing what you're saying.

You wanna create your own currency for use among FREE MEN

...then why the HELL would you call it a DOLLAR?!?!?!?

this is what pissed me off the most about this whole thing:

“We are determined to meet these threats through infiltration, disruption and dismantling of organizations which seek to challenge the legitimacy of our democratic form of government,” Tompkins said.

I'm sorry, but isn't this a REPRESENTATIONAL REPUBLIC???

Democracy doesn't work...that's why our founding fathers made sure we didn't have one!

. . . once youhave heard the power-drunk, insane rage, you recognize it from then on. Notice the Resemblance of these two quotes:

“We are determined to meet these threats through infiltration, disruption and dismantling of organizations which seek to challenge the legitimacy of our democratic form of government,” Tompkins said"

Now listen to the same tune, just different words:

"We must use terror, assassination, intimidation, land confiscation, and the cutting of all social services to rid the Galilee of its Arab population."-Israel Koenig, "The Koenig Memorandum."
<snip>
[link to www.rense.com]

The first one is pure insanity with less rage, while the second one is pure rage with less insanity. but yet the rhythm is identical. Now youhave met Schizophrenia with its Delusions of Grandeur. These Homicidal Maniacs can be anyone they want to be . . . at any given moment . . .

For a while i worked for a Psychiatrist and Psychologist team that specialized in Schizophrenia. They gave me a demonstration on the strength of a Schizoid. They had him pick up a car motor and carry it across the lawn.

They never claimed "legal tender" so I don't see how they got in trouble. Then again, the business was taken down right around the time that the economy collapsed and they started to demolish the value of the dollar, so I see why they did this to him.

Alright... I agree that this it is heavy handed to refer to this as domestic terrorism, but do you folks understand that one cannot simply make their own currency and knowingly attempt to distribute the same as a competing currency? For better or worse the dollar is precariously balanced in value against other world currency's and precious metals. One who attempts to inject millions of funny money into the system does exponentially more damage.

Why not? Can't the free market handle it? A FREE market can choose it's own method and type of currency. It's legal for me to carry Peso's and try to spend them but not Liberty Dollars? Pesos have less to do with america then these coins do.

More then quantitative easing? Printing trillions to fill the endless holes?

How is this not a personal contract. I will mow your lawn of you watch my kids, for two nights. One lawn mowing is worth two nights of watching kids. What's an engine rebuild or an OS reinstall worth?

Money has it's uses but got hijacked years ago. It's good at removing the bartering aspect of negotiations but this simplifies and dumbs down the process and allows for easier control at the top.

People BYPASS the monetary system all the time, it's called favors.

This man was convicted of terrorism charges for attempting to harm a financial system. A financial system has no heart, blood or soul. It is a mutual agreed to (assumption) system for people too GD LAZY to come up with a better way. He threatened a system, for this he is caged like an animal for doing something ALL OF US DO in a slightly different form daily. We do this because we know it is our right to do so. Bartering goes back many evolutionary cycles deep.

At the end of the day, a guy is in prison benefiting a corporation for bartering with trinkets and not FED notes.

Anyone know any good ebay links for tar and feathers?
