We've got it here in Detroit, often reported as the Windsor Hum...since the Canadian city across the straight has it worse than us in the US, apparently. I hear it as a distant diesel idling, which changes in pitch and harmonic complexity durig the darker hours of the day, usually right at the change of the hour many times. When it is it's worst, my girlfriend stirs when it changes, and will often wake with horrible dreams. I've got Asperger's Syndrome, so the emotional torquing is largely lost on me...while I sense the hum distinctly, all the time. Sincerely, John Detroit |

Once in the far western Upper Peninsula of Michigan, while camping deep within the undeveloped part of the State Park south of the Porcupine Mountains. The second, while far from the power grid on Kaua'i, while hiking the Na Pali trail...and possibly deep in the Waimea Canyon trails on the other end of the loop road around the island. Both far from the development on the S, SE, and E portions of paradise. So yeah, it can be finally made directional, by getting far enough from the electrical grid... |

Does anyone know what this deep rumbling sound is coming across Lake Erie? Clear sky. Calm water. It's now 9:20pm and it's been going on for at least 20-25 minutes. Anyone? |
