<JADR> User ID: 389430 Australia 03/24/2011 09:35 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Two things are working against Japan...the build-up of methane from the mantle boundary and a process called Delamination. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1282080Delamination is the loss and sinking of the portion of the lowermost lithosphere from the tectonic plate to which it was attached. This can occur when the lower portion of the lithosphere becomes more dense than the surrounding mantle. Because of the instability of higher density material atop lower density material, the lower lithosphere separates from the tectonic plate and sinks into the mantle. This was ALREADY happening to Japan but has since been GREATLY accelerated with the recent earthquake(s). Layers of the crust are literally peeling off, so to speak. There are bacteria from the mantle boundary that digest organic material to produce methane gas. They flourish between the mantle and the plate and produce huge amounts. This methane liquefies and works as lubricant that speeds up the plate as the megalith pulls on it. Combined this process with delamination and it means Japan will SINK. The fracture will likely start up in South Hokkaido and the Izumi fault down in Kyushu. Mount Aso will blow. Then the Median Tectonic Line right across the middle of the country...south of that will SINK. The energy will fracture EVERY active fault zone in the country. On the main island, once the Fossa Magna formation splits it'll be ALL OVER. Lastly, Fuji will blow and Japan will sink. This will take place within a year. Shit!!! Do we have time to organize enough life boats? |

Will it be a gradual process Like a Month or Months or will it be Days or even Hours before half or most of it goes under. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1310439If it is quick just think of the size of the tsunami that would hit the west coast! |

If you go by what the OP mentioned about bacteria, and a methane layer, then irradiating the area might just kill said bacteria and buy some more time. I've thought about Japan sinking too, and have had others tell similar stories and dreams about it. I truly hope it never happens, it's an amazing place and culture. |
