For all those berating the individual asking the original question, how about shutting the pie hole. Perhaps this site is not the most appropriate place to post a question about peanuts but don't you have something better to do. If you don't like the question or think its stupid...try something novel....ignore it!

This is actually a pretty good question for gardeners out there wanting to find out how much space is needed to plant a given amount of peanuts.

As far as the original question is concerned...here is my answer.

I am planting Jumbo Virginia peanuts this year. I just went and took a small kitchen scale and put enough peanuts on there to equal one ounce. One ounce of shelled peanuts yielded 37 peanuts. Multiply that by (16/a pound) and you have 592 peanuts in one pound. Of course this could change due to peanut variety and the size of each individual peanut.
