have you done any research on collidial silver? Maybe it has already been mentioned....I haven't had a chance to read your whole thread.

Anyway, there is this collidial silver product for the lungs...and have never heard of it...

Silver has been known for thousands of years to be an antibacterial and antiviral substance. Silver was used to store and eat food with exactly because of its germicidal effect, rather than just for its beauty.

[link to www.tesco-shopping.com]

Because of its overuse in a few individuals who ended up with a gray skin (Argyria) coloration, colloidal silver fell out of disuse in many medical practices. While the skin discoloration was unattractive and permanent, it was actually biologically harmless.

[link to en.wikipedia.org]

I was unable to find any radioprotective effect from silver, however as radiation compromises the immune system, silver compounds may be of benefit if infection develops. There is tremendous interest currently silver nanoparticle technology for its anti-microbial effects:

I hope that helps answer your question.hf

PS I think it is very telling that vaccine companies use organic mercury as a preservative in their multi-dose vials but don’t use silver instead. It kind of tells you what their priorities are and have been.

I knew it took a while for milk to reach store shelves. I may have posted this already on another thread, but these threads are difficult to keep up with.
Something I am pondering...
If the milk tested was from the store shelf, it is at least 2 weeks old. Therefore, exactly what is the radiation reading at the FARM? It would have to be a lot higher for radioactive iodine. So the cows, farmers, and surrounding area are being exposed to higher amounts. Not just from the rain, and ground but also the air. Dairy products are trucked all over the country. I found dairy products from several different states at the local grocery store.
We are making adjustments to our eating habits, and the foods we buy. It is so difficult not to buy leafy greens, especially since eating salad daily. We also have not purchased mushrooms or milk.
 Quoting: Corkinway

It is difficult to make these adjustments, and even worse that we have so little reliable information from our government to guide us.

Some of this information is difficult to find, and difficult to interpret, and I don’t think that this is any accident.

The FDA and the EPA use different cut offs and measurements which makes the data even more confusing.

This article from Forbes explains it a bit (sorry about the ad)

“Why Does FDA Tolerate More Radiation Than EPA?”

“Since the Environmental Protection Agency began detecting radiation in rainwater and milk at levels above its maximum contaminant level, government officials have been downplaying the importance of EPA’s maximum contaminant level. They would much prefer us to speak in terms of the Food and Drug Administration’s “Derived Intervention Level."

"The two levels could hardly be more different:
EPA does not allow drinking water to contain more than 3 picoCuries per liter of radioactive istotopes like iodine-131 and cesium-137.
FDA allows up to 4,700 picoCuries of iodine-131 in a liter of milk and up to 33,000 picoCuries of cesium-137.

That means FDA’s 4,700 picoCurie limit for one liter of milk is almost seven times higher than EPA’s exposure maximum for a year.
FDA’s limit for Cesium-137 in a single liter of milk is 47 times higher than EPA’s annual maximum for human exposure."

[link to blogs.forbes.com]

I can’t help but get the feeling that deception is intended.

As for trying to figure out where our food comes from, I think it is difficult at best.

The Country of origin laws are in place, but vary from State to Sate, and product to product. The State laws, to the best of my knowledge are not uniform.

"Country of origin labeling (COOL) requires labeling for muscle cuts and ground beef, veal, lamb, pork, goat, chicken, farm-raised and wild fish, shellfish, fresh and frozen fruits and vegetables, peanuts, pecans, macadamia nuts and ginseng that states the country of origin. This mandatory measure was implemented March 16, 2009, by USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service."

[link to www.agmrc.org]

I don’t know if there was a thread on this a while back, it seems I remember something about this (but could not find it), which lists for the barcodes of the various States. I will keep looking for it, but if anyone knows this, please post or link to it.

Someone a while back asked if I had any data on cancer risk for various isotopes, and this was the best that I could come up with.

As time permits, I thought that I would do an “iodine primer” on this important nutrient. There is unfortunately much misinformation on this vital nutrient. Both too little and too much can cause problems. I want to look into the actual biological information from Chernobyl and read some of the Russian papers on their experience.

For example, numerous people have stated that two things could have vastly decreased the levels of thyroid cancers in children following the Chernobyl event. One was to have eliminated iodine deficiency in the population, as deficient glands soak up more radioactive iodine. This can be accomplished by the use of iodized salt and iodine rich foods. The other was advising parents to not allow children to drink milk and consume other dairy.

The problem is that certain radioactive isotopes fall in rain, are consumed by grazing cows and concentrated in milk (to a lesser extent in meat). Parents generally encourage milk as a healthy beverage for its contents of calcium, protein, vitamin D and vitamin A. However, these essential nutrients can be supplemented and obtained in other ways.

I also need to do further research for the levels of radioactive iodine in which to begin a more total saturation of the thyroid gland and duration of time that this is necessary. I really want to do this through the scientific literature if possible rather than from someone’s U-tube video or someone’s website selling or promoting a product.

In the past, neither the American government nor the Russian government gave people who were exposed to significant radiation timely warnings or advice.

I fear that this situation is no different, either in Japan or elsewhere.

Had to jump in on the Iodized Salt issue. You might want to do some serious research as times have changed. In the old days yes it would have helped, but not in these days as our salt is toxic! Times have changed since the 1920′s with the manufacturing of toxic chemicals and more cost effective ways of harvesting salt. Most of the salt harvested back then was natural salt from the sea or from natural salt deposits and contained the beneficial trace mineral iodine.

Table Salt or “Iodized Salt” is not a healthy naturally occurring rock, crystal or sea salt. It is a manufactured type of sodium called sodium chloride with added iodide. Iodine in salt available at grocery stores, restaurants and in practically all processed foods, have synthetic chemicals added to them. These chemicals may include manufactured forms of iodide, sodium solo-co-aluminate, fluoride sodium bicarbonate, toxic amounts of potassium iodide, anti-caking agents and aluminium derivatives. Table salt has also been bleached. Unfortunately, most table salt is not only unhealthy, but is toxic to the body and should never be considered as a source of healthy iodine.

Of course, we need this iodine because the thyroid gland requires it for making thyroxine and triiodothyronine, two key hormones for metabolic function. Commonly used forms of iodine include potassium iodate, potassium iodine, sodium iodate and sodium iodine. Each of these forms of iodine offers the body the needed T4 and T3 hormones by the thyroid gland.

Sadly, even if we are using iodine-fortified table salt, we may still be at risk for micronutrient deficiencies. One study done at the University in Texas at Arlington, and published in the American Chemical Society journal Environmental Science and Technology, found that salt alone cannot prevent iodine deficiency.

The research looked into iodine levels in over 80 types of commonly-sold iodized salt brands, and found that 47 of them (over half!) did not meet the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s recommendation for healthy iodine levels. (Also, the old RDA is the minimum needed to stay alive not for optimal health). Moreover, with time, iodine levels tend to decrease in salt products that are left in humid conditions. The study concluded that only about 20% of the so-called “iodized” salt sold in stores has enough of the micronutrient to be considered enough for daily level acquisition.

I have always been under the impression that commercial iodized salt has more iodine than sea salt, although sea salt has other important trace minerals.

[link to www.mayoclinic.com]

You also make a good argument about the processed nature of commercial iodized salt even though iodine content is greater in it than in natural sea salt.

[link to www.buzzle.com]

[link to www.3fatchicks.com]

That being said, I love sea salt because it is so yummy. Some of this looks especially delicious:

[link to www.saltworks.us]

Perhaps for now, a middle of the road approach might be best, since Iodine 131 is contamination some traditional sources of iodine such as seaweed, and the uncontaminated products have become harder to find and more expensive. I think using commercial iodized salt while levels of I 131 remain elevated, and then using sea-salt for more long-term use might be a reasonable approach for now anyway.

The reason that I brought up the iodized salt issue is because there were studies showing that the damage to children in Belarus was related to preexisting iodine deficiencies, which made the damage from the radioactive iodine that much worse.

“Iodine Deficiency in Belarusian Children as a Possible Factor Stimulating the Irradiation of the Thyroid Gland during the Chernobyl Catastrophe”

Ten years after the Chernobyl nuclear plant catastrophe more than 500 children in Belarus are suffering from thyroid cancer. The major cause of the high incidence of thyroid cancer in children under 15 years of age appears to be contamination resulting from that catastrophe, mainly with isotopes of radioactive iodine. Another important factor may be iodine deficiency in the environment.”

However, data from epidemiologic studies conducted many years before the accident showed high goiter prevalence in the contaminated aras, indicating that the prevalence of iodine deficiency at the time of the catastrophe was similar to the present one or even greater. Such an assumption could lead to a better understanding of the thyroid pathologies that have been observed. -- Environ Health Perspect 105(Suppl 6):1487-1490 (1997)”

[link to ehp.niehs.nih.gov]

"A lack of iodine in the diets of children living in the contaminated region has made them more susceptible to thyroid cancer and iodine deficiency disorders. These children could be protected through universal salt iodization, which costs just 4 cents per person."

BTW, kudos to you for being related to Linus Pauling, truly a great scientist and a giant among nutritional researchers. hf

My friend told me they discovered the decay of carbon 14 is being affected by a superforce coming from the sun. This change in the decay of carbon 14 means the decay rates of other atoms are also being affected.

They call it angry sun but I call it healing sun. I think we should want decay rates to speed up on plutonium and stronium also, especially in Japan. Either that or the cern machine was turned on when they took these carbon readings...

Has anyone bought this ebook, by Dr. Russell Blaylock - Nuclear Sunrise? It's only $10 but wondering if it has exact grams/mg's for each supplement he suggests. Anyone have it? Is it valuable to buy?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 979114

I don't have his book, but here is an interview here:

[link to www.newsmaxhealth.com]

Again he emphasizes that in the US currently, the risk is not acute radiation sickness, but rather long term risks primarily of cancers.

He also mentions supplements iodine, ginkgo biloba, Beta-glucan, Curcumin (turmeric) garlic, Melatonin, magnesium, and alpha lipoic acid.

All of these are mentioned on the first page except the Beta-glucan, which I think was discussed with barley somewhere, so I added this after verifying this reference to the first page.

"Enhancement of radioprotection and anti-tumor immunity by yeast-derived beta-glucan in mice."
"Intraperitoneal injection of beta-glucan was shown to greatly delay mortality in mice exposed to whole-body X-ray radiation and tumor growth in tumor-bearing mice. Since the leukocyte and lymphocyte numbers were increased by a single dose of beta-glucan, the radioprotective effect of beta-glucan is probably mediated, at least in part, by a hemopoietic action in irradiated mice."
"These results suggest that beta-glucan may be a promising adjunct treatment for cancer patients receiving radiotherapy.

[link to www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

Sources of Beta-glucans:

One of the most common sources of β(1,3)D-glucan for supplement use is derived from the cell wall of baker’s yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae). However, β(1,3)(1,4)-glucans are also extracted from the bran of some grains such as oats and barley, and to a much lesser degree in rye and wheat. The β(1,3)D-glucans from yeast are often insoluble. Those extracted from grains tend to be both soluble and insoluble. Other sources include some types of seaweed, and various species of mushrooms such as Reishi, Shiitake, and Maitake.

MAY 4, 2011 - EPA IS ALL DONE WITH FUKUSHIMA - WILL SCALE DOWN MONITORING, REMOVE DEPLOYABLES AND RESUME ROUTINE, QUARTERLY TESTING - ACTIVISTS CONCERNED ABOUT LEVELS OF RADIOSTRONTIUMS IN MILK AND AIRBORNE PLUTONIUM-238

On the evening of May 3, the EPA posted on its Daily Data Summary page that the agency has unilaterally decided that due to the "consistent decrease in radiation levels across the country" it will begin transitioning to the normal "routine RadNet sampling and analysis process for precipitation, drinking water and milk," which is a protocol that calls for testing "milk and drinking water samples on a quarterly basis and precipitation samples as part of a monthly composite." The EPA is also considering removing from Hawaii, Alaska and other Pacific locations the "additional air monitors deployed in response to the Japan nuclear incident."

The EPA's startling move comes at a time when activists are criticizing the agency for not ramping up analysis of milk samples for radio-strontiums - strontium-89 was detected by the agency in early April in milk in Hawaii and strontium isotopes were detected in Moscow's air by a company named Radon in March - thus, there is a good chance that most food products in the U.S. contain trace amounts of radioactive strontium, but there is no data on this.

One recent article titled 'LIMITED TESTING OF MILK FOR RADIOACTIVE STRONTIUM PROMPTS NEW CONCERNS' by Risk Policy Report on May 3rd discusses this disturbing fact.

The article notes that the EPA is only "testing for the presence of radioactive strontium in milk in instances where it has already detected radioactive cesium, meaning that since the nuclear crisis began in March, EPA would have conducted only three tests for strontium in milk for the entire country. This is because, according to publicly available data, the agency has only detected cesium in milk samples in Hilo, Oakland, CA, and Montpelier, VT."

The article quotes one activist who said "It's hard to believe we're running that blind," - the activist noted that 'given that other radionuclides have been detected at much greater levels in milk, air and rainwater throughout the country, it is alarming that EPA is not testing for strontium more regularly...'

The article continues: 'Activists are in particular concerned about a lack of adequate strontium testing because it is considered to be one of the most dangerous radionuclides to be released during nuclear incidents due to its ability to accumulate in human bone. Like cesium, some forms of strontium also have a long half life, meaning the contamination will remain in the environment for decades.'

This was done in order not to induce panic in the population, a representative of the staff dealing with the nuclear emergency told ITAR-TASS.”

I came across this natural health food/product website that has many great articles on radiation protection. I thought I would post it here for those people who would like to read up on what they suggest.

With all the news coming from Japan, everyone should reading this and preparing for the worst. Our government and the Japanese government are so busy covering this up that we never here from them about any danger from the radiation cloud.

tptb have their 'antidotes' supposedly which imo is why they and their talking heads in their media are so unconcerned about it all..

I was intrigued about sotts article on DMSO and will pay special attention to op's post about this and plan to google all GLP threads regarding it...

maybe this in addition to everything else listed is the poor mans 'antidote'??

I for one really hope this is the case..radiation poisoning seems like an especially horrible way to go..

especially with reactors 5 and 6 at risk..

Thread: Extreme Radiation in Fukushima Units 5 and 6 dry wells - Have reactors 5 and 6 also melted down???

edit to add: I regret linking to the Sott website due to their twisted political views..they seem like reprehensible individuals who support the aims of the NWO..I wasn't aware that they held these views until today

op..please delete any post that quotes this edit of mine.. I'm not trying to turn this into a political spam fest on this important thread..I just wanted to clear up that up in case anyone questioned the dubious link I provided..

saying that..I still think the remedies offered at that snakepit are valid since they mention most of the things op did..

rant

I'm glad I saved this thread.

I live in SW Alaska and many of us are feeling sick, nausea, dizziness, tiredness and whoosiness. No one has measured for radiation out here, but shortly after the disaster happened, see now I just lost my train of thought.

Anyway I have a feeling we are all going to be dead soon out here, first I'm going to read through this thread for any helpful ideas.

I am so sorry to hear about this.

Take care, and I hope that something here will help you. The Spirulina might be a very good choice, along with the melatonin and vitamins.

For memory loss or problems concentrating I would definitely suggest that you try virgin coconut oil. Dr. Mary Newport has done some work in this area, as her husband suffers from Alzheimer’s disease, but it has also shown helpful for problems in other areas of cognitive decline, and may help with cognitive interference from radiation. I don’t think any studies have been done specifically on radiation related cognitive issues, but unless you are allergic to coconut, it would probably we worth a try.

When do you think it will be safe to consume dairy again?

[link to www.chrismartenson.com]

I was surprised to hear mid June in this interview. What about leafy greens? Will it be safe to plant during the fall? I am assuming mushrooms will be off limits forever. I can't express how mush I miss leafy greens and mushrooms. With the heat, I want to eat salad.
