computer says no (OP) User ID: 1307384 United Kingdom 03/27/2011 06:44 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Earthquake reported at 7.24 am, with a Tsunami warning expected to reach 50 cm. Watching it live now, but it looks ok, just a slight surge at worst this time, no more than a high tide coming in, so panic over, but tsunami warning still applies. They say they're checking the nuclear plant, but no damage reported. |

computer say no (OP) User ID: 1307384 United Kingdom 03/27/2011 07:15 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | oh wow.. they're showing the lid of the actual nuclear container itself amid the caved in walls & steam gushing out. The lid is a dirty yellow.. ish colour, which looks solid enough. Now some professor is explaining what's going via diagrams. I mean.. there is no sense of urgency or panic in the Japanese, very calm, no drama queen shit at all.. but are chirpy in the way of saying 'good news' about things not being any worse.. gotta love em! They said the radio-active iodine will be safe in about 8 days, as it only has a short life. Cesium has been released, but again, is not a problem as it's dispersing, & again has a short life. So.. the real problem is the release of any high level uranium or plutonium. He's just said it's gonna take months to cover the exposed nuclear rods, but some have been removed, so longer a danger. The biggest problem right now, is that there is radio-active water leaking out into the water table.. which apparently is not very welcome.. |

I'd like to believe that this problem is as manageable as the way you summarize it...but I don't. We've already learned how the government's and media underplay national catastrophes, much more/or less global catastrophes. Sorry, this is NOT like anything we've (as in "our global populace") has ever experienced... Again, I hope this is as manageable as you/they portray it. |

There is going to be great loss of life otherwise. There will be a series of quakes. Three small quakes and the Two that will change Japan. Thread: The Hand Of Madness |

There is going to be great loss of life otherwise. There will be a series of quakes. Three small quakes and the Two that will change Japan. Thread: The Hand Of Madness Earlier tonight on BBC2, tho' missed a lot of the program, there was a documentary on the disaster. An expert Geologist was showing via diagrams on the stress points. Where the earthquake was last week has weakened stress, making a big earthquake unlikely, but has greatly increased stress right above Tokyo, practically underneath the city, if somewhat to the north. He reckoned there's still gonna be a big one in Tokyo, but of of course no idea when. The Geologist & even the presenter really questioned the logic in building nuclear reactors in such high risk earthquake zones, which come to think of it, is rather dumb. There 'are' alternative forms of power, but I guess it must be big money, politics & an unwillingness to change.. |
