nothing will ever change if you keep using there services.

I've tried everywhere believe me but nothing comes close to our success there.

I just have to suck it up.

But i had to VENT!

I was wondering when they would do this.

Quite a few sellers (at least coin-sellers) were charging close to spot price for shipping and closing their auctions at a couple of bucks in an effort to circumvent the sellers fee's.

Hey, PA, do you know of any other way to reduce e-bay's 9% take?

I stopped selling on eBay years ago due to their bullshit...I have over 1000 positive selling feedback, and only one neutral ever, and that was due to a USPS fuckup...

I have been there since 1998, and will never give them another dime...

When I started, item numbers were 6 digit...

No...they got us all by the balls. Our best selling items go for under $50 which is exactly where ebay takes their biggest bite.

Our shipping fees were cheap $3-$4 but we'll have to raise rates a little.

Incidentally this will jack up paypal's profits too.

I think its sickening but I continue to make great money.

I pity those who sell heavy items and charge $200 to $300 for freight. Those people will get royally fucked.

And the 20% top rated seller fee discount wont apply to shipping fees.

How convenient!

Been selling on ebay since 99. There was no paypal and people sent money orders and cash for payment.

There were also way fewer Chinese fake items out there.

EBAY'ers: ever tried [link to www.ioffer.com?] It's a pretty cool place to buy, sell or trade... and even negotiate between buyers/sellers without too much interferance from the owners.

P.S.: ioffer also allows the selling of items that EBAY prohibits.

I think you can import your items too right???

I might try it again. I tried on a few items but I ont remember what happened.

Oh yeah, almost forgot. ebay bucks. 2% back up to $500 per quarter. Doesnt sound like much incentive but we have 3 different buying accounts and can burn through the $25,000 in a month you need to buy to get the full $500 credit easy.

So $1500 FREE every quarter. $6000 a year for items we buy anyway applied to our purchases?

OP: not sure about importation, but ioffer does allow you to carry over your EBAY ratings. I'm not a seller -never wanted the hassles- but I now buy ALOT on ioffer after a couple of disputes with nasty people over at EBAY.

Ok, I'll check that out. Appreciate the reminder. I think your listings can be pulled as well. Its been at least 2 years or more since I tried it.

Oh yeah. Almost forgot. Another trick is to sell under a few different names at ebay. Small sellers can now list the 1st 50 items EACH MONTH for free so take 50 popular selling items and do that under different IDs. We use our buying names.

Mark those items up quite high and it doesnt matter if they sell or not because your not being charged a fee unless they sell. When they do, you get crazy profit.

We use garagesale which is an incredible listing tool and the cost is really cheap and you can have multiple accounts.

Also remember that this creates competition and may driv traffic to your main store where they eventually find the same items for cheaper.

Just some tricks to increase the profit margin.

I have been buying on EBay since nearly the beginning. (some selling, but very little) I could have told you this was coming, it became apparrent when sellers started selling their stuff for .99, and charging you 24.99 to ship it.

Personally, I won't buy from sellers who list that way.

Too bad the reputable sellers are getting screwed by the Hong Kong douches with 243 storefronts and 79% feedback ratings.

I'm serious. These fucking sellers piss me off. I probably didnt help matters by reporting many of them. this will obviously be easier for ebay than policing a million listings a day.

But I ship for free and our starting shipping fee is just $3. Store items already have free shipping.

Those greedy fucks. What if you put postage as 'free' and included the actual postage in the selling price? would ebay been none the wiser?

I no longer sell or buy or even look at EBay. The only way to protest is with your feet.

That's true but ebay is too lazy to enforce their own rules so they find a way to just rape all the good guys and let the crooks get away with it.

It's to stop you idiots from screwing the place that gives you a place to sell your wares to folks you aren't in a local vicinity with. Best advertising in the world, ebay.

However, now you can't sell your crap for a penny and charge $19.95 shipping and handling and get away with a lower fee.

You don't want to have BUSINESS EXPENSES, live off yard sales. Otherwise, shut up and pay business overhead like the rest of us schmucks.

But you know what......the only times I've been ripped off are 3 transactions from the USA. Now, I only buy from Asia (where all your shit is made anyway) as Asian sellers are first rate, super fast, excellent to deal with and they DON'T STEAL from you.

I charge $3-$4 shipping idiot. I cant charge any cheaper for what I eat already idiot. Now ebay wants a cut of what it costs me to ship. Thats the point idiot.

I sell old coins not made in China. If your buying in China you might have fake coins. I've seen fake Rolex watches and even fake crest toothpast. Unless you know your stuff be careful. I know coins and Chinese fake coins are a major problem.

No. They have a confusing fee structure but the bottom line is if your ebay invoice sent to a customer totals $100, you are charged fees based on $100. It doesnt matter what makes up the invoice, shipping fees, ebay fees, extras etc.

It shouldnt apply to auction items in my opinion. We list many items below our cost to encourage bidding. It gets harder to do that with each fee hike. But ebay wants to be Amazon and they forget that auctions are the real magic that makes the site.

papal was founded in 1998 make sure u know what your talking about next time.... also i use to be a silver powerseller on ebay and the height i made 17,000 one year and had around $1700 paypal fees.... you say you pay 60,000 paypal fees... i hardly believe you.

Coins. We have very few losses so I will likely self insure more items. Its a bit more risk but I have to get costs down somehow. Paypal requires signature confirmation on all items over $250 so there is $2 right there. The oversize fee on the cheapest 1st class level is $1.22. Thats $3.22 already plus the cost of the coin holders, the bubble mailer and now ebay wants a cut of the shipping fee?

I never started using paypal until 2000 or 2001 and they never charged fees for months or longer and at the time I was getting $5 referrals right and left. What does it matter when they started? It wasnt an expense at the time is all I am getting at.

I could give a rats ass if you believe what my selling fees are or not. My postage fee is over $20,000 as well.

But we sell over $750,000 on ebay alone.

Do you manage that much in sales on ebay??? If you dont, how can you possibly know what my fees are?
