If our government buys missiles, tanks, etc., from defense contractors, and uses tax payer money for said purchases, does the government disclose how much money the military equipment actually costs from these defense contractors, or are we supposed to just take their word for it?

They say the Libya 'war' has already cost the American tax payers 600 million dollars. Most of that cost is from the Tomahawk missiles. The missiles are purchased by the politicians from defense contractors. What are the politicians actually paying for the missiles?

Why do i have a feeling the politicians have some sort of 'mark-up' they pass along to the tax payers?
