ALERT! EPA now verifies PA and Mass. OVER the limit for Iodine-131 in drinking water!!!!!!!! | |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 652961 United States 03/30/2011 07:57 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Readings came from "rainwater" which exceeded the safe limit if that if the amount was applied to "drinking water". Quoting: Anonymous Coward 990606So technically not the actual tap water, but the water processing system is not going to do much by the time it reaches your tap water. Duh. My dad works on new water filtration plants and they all use the new Brita 5900, which is EPA certified to remove everything radioactive. The only thing that remains is our normal tap water with the other stuff like fluoride. Flu - or - ide? cmon, doesn't sound good... /s That's real nice. But you know if it is in the rain, it will be in the soil, plants, animals, buildings, automobiles, and everything that is outside. Another thing is that you won't see immediate effects of it, it will take years. There will be many people with cancers in the future caused by this accident. That's okay we have Obama Care... rofl. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 941878 United States 03/30/2011 07:59 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | pocono pa.water is cheap so been stocking up for week.wont even let my dog drink tap Quoting: riderrI don't drink tap, but we all bathe in it... and condensation exposure? Breathing it in via air, absorption... what do we do!? yup, body absorbs more water from a shower than drinking water during the day. and if the water is contaminated there then what about the west coast? wouldn't contamination hit them first and then go across the country? what's going on? Here in Seattle, not a peep from the controlled police state. The O supporting lefties here are mum with delight. These fuckers believe it wont touch them I guess. The whole west coast has been left to just "take it". The U of W did release info that all types of radiation from Japan showed up on there ventilation filters but even that article was taken down as of last night. It does appear that most americans really did believe we had a government that was diligently working to protect the american public's lives at the very least from something like this but the evidence to date says other wise. The current swollen bloated bureaucracy is there just for the fat cats and we will be left to die. This crisis has shown a bright light on the EPA and their so called radnet system. People are pulling records for all over the country going back 3 to 6 months and the whole country is being fried in radiation. I can only assume the nuclear plants dotted all over our landscape has been dumping quietly on us for years. No wonder 1 in 3 will die of cancer now. People we may all be finished but by God, some of us need to make things right before we kiss our asses goodbye! |

Quoting: JebusOh well, at least he did finally read the source article at the EPA site after he posted that douchebag title with the !!!!!!!. i hope you are saying that the title is wrong and there is no problem. did op read something wrong? you have a link? Yes the title is wrong. Really wrong. The EPA said the levels are above the limit for someone drinking 70 years of rainwater. RAINWATER, not drinking water. WE have every reason on earth to not believe a thing these bastards say. The people need to get their own monitoring equipment in each state and do as much monitoring as possible independently. I believe no radiation station is or can measure the Gamma, is this true someone and what could that mean for us? |

WHY WHY WHY do they continue to DOWNPLAY this, and push it to the BACK? Instead, we get John King on CNN with his giant magical ipad telling us all about LIBYA. Or Anderson Cooper telling us heartwrenching stories ala lady was raped in libya.... I DONT CARE. Well I do. I DONT WANT MY MONEY to go to them. I WANT my MONEY to be used to tell me WTF is GOING ON WITH RADIATION. GRRRRRR |

Try www.amazon.com they had run out but seem to have it in stock again. ALL of my orders from Amazon are still 'on hold'. I placed one order on the 15th or 16th, hasn't cancelled but also hasn't shipped. When I placed another order later that week, ALL the shippers had "this product will ship in 4-6 weeks". |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1086216 United States 03/30/2011 08:39 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Ok, here is what I am thinking. You know they 'leak' information. Slowly, or sometimes they will put out a story and then change it a few hours later, or put out another contradicting story... I read the EPA site, it did say rainwater. I have many friends and family on wells. I also have family who have livestock that are outside, drinking water from a pond that collects rain, eats grass and hay that gets rained on. That concerns me. But the more pressing part that is worrying me is... are they 'leaking' this info to us slowly? Is it right now, Oh don't worry, and then in 3 months we get a report that says Ooops! We messed up and it was very bad... sorry! Right now they are reporting on iodide. We all know that has a half life of just 8 days, which means in 8 days, the amount of radioactive iodide is halved, every 8 days. That is 'good' news for us because chances are the radioactive iodide will have the least effect on us out on the east coast (unless like some speculated, it came from other sources). But Iodide is not the only thing that was released! The other, heavier particles may still be on the way. Basically if the iodide made it here, its possible the other more harmful stuff will to. So in my eyes, this iodide thing on the EPA site is a wake up call for ALL of us. Didn't we learn anything by being on this site and watching all these tragedies? This is NOT the time to wait for someone to tell you something is wrong! So what I am saying is, while this EPA report may not mean 'go panic', we should NOT wait until it is TIME to panic to get ready. Why does everyone do that. Oh its not here right now. Great, so if its here tomorrow, WHAT are you going to do? If you didn't plan today, you're screwed. So, don't panic, don't get in a tizzy, but BE SMART, and get yourself prepared. Some of this stuff, nothing you can do... unfortunately. BUT, there ARE some tings you CAN do. Store water, store food, stay out of the rain, try to limit your exposure to things we know are not going to be good (milk, some crops, etc). People, right NOW is the time to educate yourself and get ready the best you can. Do not wait until the news is reporting that there is trouble, it will be too late, and you will be in lines forever trying to buy stuff. Just be smart and get ready. That is the best thing you can do for yourself and your family right now. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1320162 Australia 03/30/2011 09:11 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | So basically, it's no longer safe to drink rainwater anywhere on Earth. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1319869Thanks again for the "clean, safe" nuclear power! There's nothing you can do to purify water contaminated in this way. We all need water to survive, so you have no choice but to drink and use this contaminated water. Bummer for you and a truly tragic. You CAN FILTER WATER. Earth Filtes, Carbon filters.... Yep. Uh huh. Show me a 100% effective filter for removing Iodine 131, let alone the other particles. I wouldn't rely upon filters - they don't remove the mineral content of the water which is what is contaminated. Even reverse osmosis won't remove the Iodine 131 contamination. In fact, using filtration methods will do little more than contaminate your filter elements. So long as your atmosphere isn't contaminated, you can distill most of the radioactive particles out of your water. Folks in the US need to start using Potassium iodide (KI). Load up your thyroid so it doesn't take in the Iodine 131, which it will. Iodine 131 is extremely toxic to humans, resulting in cell damage and mutations which lead to cancers. Although it won't kill you and your children today, tomorrow or next week, it will take years off your life, maybe even decades depending on how much you have ingested. Follow ALL directions when using KI and DO NOT overdose yourself or your loved ones with it. Some here may say that because Iodine 131 only has a half-life of 8-10 days it's not dangerous.... Just avoid the water for a week and a bit and you'll be fine... negative. The reactors are still spewing this shit into the atmosphere and it is still being blown all over the northern hemisphere as we speak. It might take 4-5 days to reach you, but this is an ongoing contamination event. What's a little fallout eh? Have a nice day. |
