GPS is from sattelites, sattelites is the first to get hit with distortions
Quoting: skirmisherNot in the way you seem to suppose. Read my above post. What do you mean by physical earth? The GPS satellites are geostationary. They keep a constant position in relation to the Earth's surface. The compass doesn't really "know" where the physical North is. It aligns to the planet's magnetic field. You have to previously know the declination for the place you are at in order to know where North is.
