1. From Uri Davis, Israel: An Apartheid State, Zed Books, London 1987:

"The impact of the Deir Yasin massacre in 1948 was subsequently assessed by Israel Eldad (Scheib), who together with the future Prime Minister of Israel, Yitzhak Shamir and Nathan Yalin-Mor (Friedman), led the LEHI. As noted above, the LEHI and the Irgun together both planned the attack and perpetrated the massacre as Deir Yasin. Speaking at a closed discussion in the summer of 1967, as subsequently transcribed and published in the influential journal De´ot (´Opinions´) in the winter of the following year, Eldad commented:

"{quote} I have always said that if the deepest and profoundest hope symbolizing redemption is the re-building of the Jewish Temple . . . then it is obvious that those mosques [al-Haram al-Sharif and al-Aqsa] will have, one way or another, to disappear one of these days . . . Had it not been for Deir Yasin - half a million Arabs would be living in the state of lsrael [in l948].The state of Israel would not have existed. We must not disregard this, with full awareness of the responsibility involved. All wars are cruel. There is no way out of that. This country will either be Eretz Israel with an absolute Jewish majority and a small Arab minority, or Eretz Ishmael, and Jewish emigration will begin again if we do not expel the Arabs one way or another . . (Eldad. ´On the Spirit That Was Revealed in the People´, De´ot, Winter 1968; as quoted in Davis and Mezvinsky (eds.) Documents from Israel (1967-1973, pp.l86-7). {end quote}"

The Government of Israel Reopens the Temple Mount to Israelis, Jews and Christians

After the Holy Site of the Temple Had Been Closed to Non-Moslems for 3 Years

This is, thanks to GÕd, a great success for the Temple Mount Faithful Mov ement campaign to open the Temple Mount, to remove the enemies and their de secration of the holy site of the GÕd and people of Israel and to rebuild the Third Temple in our lifetime as an opening for the coming of Mashiach ben David.

Thanks to the intensive and constant campaign of The Temple Mount and Land of Israel Faithful Movement over the last 3 years since the Temple Mount was closed to non-Moslems, the government of Israel today reopened the Temple Mount to Israelis, Jews, Christians and non-Moslems. It was so important to hear from the Israeli Minister of Internal Security that the Temple Mount will never again be closed to Israelis, Jews, Christians and non-Moslems.

3 years ago, Prime Minister Ariel Sharon (at that time leader of the opposition) went up on the Temple Mount to demonstrate Israeli sovereignty over the Temple Mount and in this way to declare to everyone in the world and to the enemies of Israel that the Temple Mount is the holiest site of Israel and the Jewish People and the location of the First, Second and Third Temples. The Arabs - so-called "Palestinians" - under the leadership of the arch-murderer and terrorist, Yasser Arafat, and his bands in the PLO, immediately started bloody terror attacks against innocent Israelis in the midst of the land of Israel. They stated that this was as a reaction to Ariel Sharon going up onto the Temple Mount. They understood what some forgot that the end-time destiny of Israel will be decided on the Temple Mount and that once they are removed from the most holy site of the GÕd and people of Israel and the Third Temple built, they will be completely removed from all the land of Israel and an end will come to their bloody wars against Israel and the kingdom of the GÕd of Israel will be established in Jerusalem, all over Israel and in all the world. Also their goals to destroy Israel and to occupy all the world and make it an Islamic world will come to an end.

Since the Six Day War, the Temple Mount Faithful Movement has called on all the governments in Israel to bring about this godly end-time redemptional cause which will redeem Jerusalem and all the land of Israel, remove the enemies from the land and bring redemption, not only to Israel, but to all the world. ...

9. David Ben-Gurion predicts World Government by 1987: writing in LOOK magazine, Jan. 16, 1962 (scroll down to see text): bengur62.jpg.

Ben-Gurion, the first Prime Minister of Israel, seemed to have remarkable prescience. Invited in 1962 to predict what the world would be like in 25 years´ time, he wrote:

"The image of the world in 1987 as traced in my imagination: the Cold War will be a thing of the past. Internal pressure of the constantly growing intelligensia in Russia for more freedom and the pressure of the masses for raising their living standards may lead to a gradual democratization of the Soviet Union. On the other hand, the increasing influence of the workers and farmers, and rising political importance of men of science, may transform the United States into a welfare state with a planned economy. Western and Eastern Europe will become a federation of autonomous states having a Socialist and democratic regime. With the exception of the USSR as a federated Eurasian state, all other continents will become united in a world alliance, at whose disposal will be an international police force. All armies will be abolished, and there will be no more wars. In Jerusalem, the United Nations (a truly United Nations) will build a shrine of the Prophets to serve the federated union of all continents; this will be the scene of the Supreme Court of Mankind, to settle all controversies among the federated continents, as prophesied by Isaiah. Higher education will be the right of every person in the world. A pill to prevent pregnanacy will slow down the explosive natural increase in China and India. And by 1987, the average life-span of man will reach 100 years."

"from the days of Spinoza to Marx, Freud, Einstein and the rest of the great Jewish scientists" (p. 287),

and in Ben-Gurion´s article in LOOK magazine of January 16, 1962, envisaging a World Government ... "the increasing influence of the workers and farmers, and the rising political importance of men of science, may transform the United States into a welfare state with a planned economy".

An expose by Israel Shahak and Norton Mezvinsky of Schneerson, Gershon Scholem (the leader of Temple Mount Faithful), and similar rabbis: "There is something infinitely more holy and unique about Jewish life than non-Jewish life." .. "The similarities between the Jewish political messianic trend and German Nazism are glaring. The Gentiles are for the messianists what the Jews were for the Nazis... the extreme chauvinism of the messianists is directed towards all non-Jews. The 1973 Yom Kippur War, for instance, was in Amital´s view not directed against Egyptians, Syrians and/or all Arabs but against all non-Jews. ... This hatred of non-Jews is not new but, ... derived from a continuous Jewish cabbalistic tradition. Those Jewish scholars who have attempted to hide this fact from non-Jews and even from many Jews have not only done a disservice to scholarship; they have aided the growth of this Jewish analogue to German Nazism" ... " the imminent coming of the Messiah ... the Jews, aided by God, will thereafter triumph over the non-Jews and rule over them forever. (This, it is alleged, will be good for the non-Jews.)": Jewish Fundamentalism in Israel: shahak2.html.

11. Professor Israel Shahak wrote in his book Jewish History, Jewish Religion: The Weight of Three Thousand Years (Pluto Press, London 1994):

{p. 8} In 1956 I eagerly swallowed all of Ben-Gurion´s political and military reasons for Israel initiating the Suez War, until he (in spite of being an atheist, proud of his disregard of the commandments of Jewish religion) pronounced in the Knesset on the third day of that war, that the real reason for it is ´the restoration of the kingdom of David and Solomon´ to its Biblical borders. At this point in his speech, almost every Knesset {p. 9} member spontaneously rose and sang the Israeli national anthem. {endquote}

{p. 16} non-Jews ... are considered to be, literally, limbs of Satan ... {p. 96} Anyone who lives in Israel knows how deep and widespread these attitudes of hatred and cruelty towards all Gentiles are among the majority of Israeli Jews ... {p. 103} Judaism, especially in its classical form, is totalitarian in nature" ... {p. 97} Judaism is imbued with a very deep hatred towards Christianity {end of quotes} : shahak1.html.

12. The status of the Old City of Jerusalem was a major sticking point in the recent Camp David talks. Both sides want control of the "Rock". The Jews says their Temples were there first; but Al Aqsa mosque and the Dome of the Rock have occupied the site for longer than all the Jewish temples combined.

The Dome of the Rock was built in 691 AD, Al Aqsa Mosque in 693 AD. Subsequently, both were damaged by earthquakes, and restored. In 1016 AD an earthquake caused the Dome of the Rock to collapse; it was rebuilt six years later. The Crusaders turned the Dome of the Rock into a church, and erected an altar on the Rock itself. The Knights Templar were formed there. The crusaders used Al Aqsa mosque as a royal residence, which they called the Palace of Solomon. This information comes from a booklet titled A Brief Guide to Al-Haram Al-Sharif Jerusalem (The Supreme Moslem Council, Jerusalem, 1935).

13. Note: Norman Cohn, the expert on Millenial Cults, in his book The Pursuit of the Millenium diagnosed many Christian millenial movements, but failed to diagnose Zionism - his own movement - as millenial: hiding.html.

In the same way, Freud diagnosed Christianity, but not Judaism, as a "mental illness": freud.html.

14. Ben-Ami Shillony´s book The Jews and the Japanese is intended to explain Judaism to Japanese readers.

Professor Shillony calls himself ´a Jew, an Israeli´ (p. 10). He writes,

´Judaism was the first religion to make world peace a central element in its eschatology´ (p. 31; but Judaism borrowed it from Zoroastrianism).

´Yet quite often peace implies domination, and in many languages the word "pacify" also means "conquer". King Solomon could afford to be a king of peace because he ruled "over all the kings from the Euphrates to the land of the Philistines, and to the border of Egypt´ (p. 32).

This quote, from 1 Kings 4:21, may not be historically accurate, yet it is the basis of promises that Jews will rule those lands again - at Genesis 15:18; Exodus 23:30-31; Deut 11:24; Josh 1:4 - and is a major motivator of modern Zionism.

The following quotes are from the New Revised Standard Version (NRSV) of the Bible, copyrighted as are all modern translations. This human copyright on the Word of God is the reason why modern translations of the whole text of the Bible are not available for free on the internet; only old, out-of date translations like the King James are.

1 Kings 4:21 says:

´Solomon was sovereign over all the kingdoms from the Euphrates to the land of the Philistines, even to the border of Egypt; they brought tribute and served Solomon all the days of his life.´

Genesis 15:18 says:

´On that day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, "To your descendants I give this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the river Euphrates ..."´

Exodus 23:30-31 says:

´Little by little I will drive them out from before you, until you have increased and possessed the land. I will set your borders from the Red Sea to the sea of the Philistines, and from the wilderness to the Euphrates ...´

Deuteronomy 11:24 says:

´Every place on which you set foot shall be yours; your territory shall extend from the wilderness to the Lebanon, and from the River, the river Euphrates, to the Western Sea.´

Joshua 1:4 says:

´From the wilderness and the Lebanon, as far as the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, to the Great Sea in the west shall be your territory.´

In his Complete Diaries, Vol. II. p. 711, Theodore Herzl, the founder of Zionism, says that the area of the Jewish State stretches: "From the Brook of Egypt to the Euphrates":

{quote} Discussed with Bodenheimer the demands we will make.
Area: from the Brook of Egypt to the Euphrates. Stipulate a transitional period with our own institutions. A Jewish governor for this period. Afterwards, a relationship like that between Egypt and the Sultan. As soon as the Jewish inhabitants of a district amount to 2/3 of the population, Jewish administration goes in force politically, while local government (communal autonomy) always depends on the number of voters in the community.
These are Bodenheimer´s ideas, in part excellent.
A transitional stage is a good idea.
{endquote}

For an image of the text, with the computerized call slip from the National Library of Australia, see herzl.jpg.

Shillony continues,

´The peaceful world that the Jewish prophets envisioned was to be ruled over by a scion of the House of David, later called the Messiah. The Jews ... were always inspired by the belief that in the future world of peace and justice they would serve as spiritual leaders. This vision of a world mission gave them the strength to suffer severe persecution and propelled them to the forefront of various messianic and "idealistic" movements in modern times like those of human rights, socialism, and communism´ (ibid., p. 32).

15. Temple Mount Faithful letter to Pope demands return of Menorah

[link to www.templemountfaithful.org]

The Temple Mount Faithful Movement Letter to the Pope

The Temple Mount Faithful Movement sent a letter to the pope demanding the immediate return to Israel of the Temple menorah, vessels and treasure. A call to everyone in the world to send such a letter to the Pope.

BeÕezrat HaShem With the help of G-d

Pope John-Paul II The Vatican Rome

22 January 2004

Sir,

A call from the G-d and people of Israel:

Immediately return the Temple menorah, vessels and treasures to Yerushalaim!

In the Name of the G-d of Israel, you are requested to immediately return the Jewish Temple Menorah and other Temple vessels and treasures to Jerusalem, to the soon-to-be-rebuilt Temple.

As you well know, in 70 CE the Romans occupied the City of G-d, Yerushalaim, and the Land of Israel and destroyed the Holy Temple of the G-d of Israel in Yerushalaim. They took away with them to Rome the holy Seven-Branch Menorah from the Temple and many other holy Temple vessels and treasures used by the Jews in the worship in the Temple. The evil emperor, Titus, who destroyed the Temple and burned it, built his Triumphal Arch in Rome on which is depicted the Menorah and other vessels carried by Jewish captives. Since this terrible event in the history of Israel and mankind, we know very well that the Menorah, the vessels and the treasures that were taken to Rome have remained in the vaults of the Vatican. Travellers and visitors to the Vatican throughout history have reported seeing them.

This is the time to return these articles to Israel. Today, Israel is the most exciting fulfilment of G-d´s endtime prophecies and promises. The climax of this prophetic time will be the soon rebuilding of the Temple exactly as the prophets of Israel prophesied. ...

This is not a vision for the distant future but a very clear actual and practical plan of G-d for the time in which we are now living. What G-d is now doing for Israel in the land of Israel is an opening for this and the biggest event ever which will take place in our lifetime. The Israeli Zionist revolution of our time was brought about by G-d as a foundation on which will be built all the endtime promises of G-d to Israel and all mankind and the Temple, the House of G-d in the midst of it. The desire of G-d for this which was expressed so excitingly in His Word to Israel: "And let them make a sanctuary and I will dwell among them" (Exodus 25:8) which is very soon to come to pass and this time it will have a significance to all mankind because now He will also dwell among all His creation.

I am sending this letter in the name of the G-d of Israel and the Universe, the G-d of my forefathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, Who together with His people Israel is now rebuilding His kingdom in the land which He promised to them. The Temple Mount and Land of Israel Faithful Movement, which is the endtime vessel of G-d to fulfil His prophetic endtime vision, is today answering the call of G-d to them: go to the Pope and tell him in my name - let my holy Temple Menorah, vessels and treasures go! Return them immediately to my people in Yerushalaim. We are looking forward to you answering this call of G-d and immediately returning them to Yerushalaim to the Temple which will soon be rebuilt.

Sincerely,

Gershon Salomon Chairman, The Temple Mount and Land of Israel Faithful Movement

It is now three weeks since we sent the letter to the Pope in the Vatican in Rome with a copy to the Vatican Embassy in Israel. As of now, no answer or response has been received. Everyone who receives this letter or who reads it on the Website is called on to send their own letter to the Pope demanding that he immediately return the Temple Menora and vessels to Israel. Please also ask your friends, family, and acquaintances to also send letters. The Pope should know that there are millions of people in the world who demand that he do so. Please write to him that he must not ignore this demand and that he must do what a great emperor before him did. Cyrus the Persian King obeyed the commandment of G-d and returned the vessels of the First Temple which Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, carried off when he destroyed the First Temple in Jerusalem. The G-d of Israel and the Universe blessed him for this exactly as He promised to Abraham and his seed, Israel: "I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you" (Genesis 12:3). ...

Cyrus even encouraged the Jewish people to rebuild the house of G-d in Jerusalem, set them free from their captivity and sent them to the land of Israel and Israel:

"And in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the L-rd by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the L-rd stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, so that he issued a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying: Thus says Cyrus king of Persia, The L-rd God of heaven has given me all the kingdoms of the earth; and he has charged me to build him an house in Jerusalem, which is in Judah. ... " (Ezra 1)

In your letters, please ask the Pope to also obey the commandment of G-d and to return to Israel the Temple Menorah and vessels which were taken to Rome from the Second Temple after it was destroyed in 70CE. Tell him that G-d will not allow him to ignore His commandment to him at this critical time of the redemption of Israel and the Third Temple. G-d will no longer allow the Temple Menorah and vessels to remain in Rome. If they are not immediately returned willingly they will be returned to Israel under the judgement of the G-d of Israel and the Universe.

Everyone who writes to the Pope about this matter will be blessed by G-d and will have an important part in the redemption and rebuilding of the endtime Temple of G-d in Jerusalem. If possible, please send us copies of your letters to the Pope.

16. Rabbi Gershon Salomon says ÒHallelujah!Ó at reports of damage to the Dome of the Rock

The Prophetic Endtime Promises of G-d Continue to Be Fulfilled

[link to www.templemountfaithful.org]

On 1 Adar 5764 [23 February 2004], a report was published in the Jerusalem Arabic newspaper El Quds stating that the roof of the Dome of the Rock on the Temple Mount had been badly damaged by the earthquake which hit Israel and Jerusalem on 19 Shevat 5764 [11 February 2004]. Hallelujah!

Recently we wrote about the wall that had collapsed in the area of the Western Wall as a result of this earthquake. We also wrote about another wall of an Islamic museum in the Western Wall area which had collapsed and about the large bulge in the southern wall of the Temple Mount and the large bulge and crack on the eastern wall of the Temple Mount. We also wrote about the prophetic promises of G-d that, in the endtimes, He would remove the foreign pagan mosques and the foreigners from His holy mountain, the Temple Mount, through an earthquake. Zechariah prophesied the following endtime Word of G-d:

"Then shall the L-rd go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle. And his feet shall stand on that day upon the Mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the Mount of Olives shall be split in its midst toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall be moved toward the north, and half of it toward the south. And you shall flee to the valley of the mountains; for the valley of the mountains shall reach to Azal; yes, you shall flee, like you fled from the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah; and the L-rd my G-d shall come, and all the holy ones with you. And it shall come to pass on that day, that there shall not be bright light nor thick darkness; But it shall be one day which shall be known to the L-rd, not day, nor night; but it shall come to pass, that at evening time there shall be light." (Zechariah 14:3-7) ...

Re: Building the Third Temple ~ And Demolishing the Dome of the Rock
The "Rock" under the Dome of the Rock is the most conspicuous natural feature within the whole of the Haram esh-Sharif. For anyone to build a magnificent shrine over it shows that the "Rock" must have had great significance. And it did. The first Christian pilgrim that has left us a record of his journey to Jerusalem was the Bordeaux Pilgrim who in 333 A.D. mentioned that the most significant building east of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre (then being built) was the Roman Praetorium where Pilate sentenced Jesus. This structure had its walls centered directly within the Tyropoeon Valley. This was NOT the site of the Temple in the eyes of the Bordeaux Pilgrim. He had already described the Temple site (and several other buildings around it) a few paragraphs before. But only later (after concluding his account of the Temple and its associated buildings) did the Bordeaux Pilgrim mention the imposing structure to the east of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre with its walls within the valley which he called the Praetorium where Pilate judged Jesus (see John Wilkinson’s excellent translation of the Bordeaux Pilgrim in his book Egeria’s Travels, p.158). Clearly, the Pilgrim was describing the Haram esh-Sharif as being the Praetorium. He was looking mainly toward the southwest angle of the Haram and northward toward the spot where the "Wailing Wall" of the Jews is presently located. The Pilgrim said this "walled area" contained the residence of Pilate. It was the Roman Praetorium that also went by the name of "Fort Antonia." In Roman usage, the Praetorium was the headquarters of a military unit and could refer to the whole camp or to the commander’s tent. There was associated with the military fort a prominent "Rock" The apostle John was well aware of its significance in Christian history. Within this walled enclosure of the Praetorium was the "Rock" called in John’s Gospel (John 19:13) "the Pavement-Stone" (in Greek, lithostrotos and in Hebrew Gabbatha).

This particular "Rock" within the Praetorium area had a "Pavement" or flagstones around it. The "Rock" was associated with the Praetorium and was part of Fort Antonia, the permanent Roman Camp that was located in Jerusalem in the time of Pilate and Jesus. And what did Josephus say (he was the Jewish historian of the first century and an eyewitness to the early Praetorium of the Romans called Fort Antonia)? He stated that the central feature of Fort Antonia was a major rock. He said: "The tower of Antonia…was built upon [around] a rock fifty cubits high and on all sides precipitous…the rock was covered from its base upwards with smooth flagstones" (Jewish War, V.v,8 para.238). Before construction of the fortress, the "Rock" was 50 cubits high (75 feet), but Herod later built a platform around it (when it became the north/south center of the walled fortress) and this made it not as high and it became accessible for judicial purposes. That "Rock" around which Fort Antonia was built (and mentioned by Josephus) was the chief geographical feature of the site. It was near this "Rock" that Pilate had his residence at the time of Jesus’ trial. Later Christians believed that some indentions in that "Rock" must have come from the footprints of Jesus as he stood before Pilate and God supposedly allowed his feet to sink into the "Rock." Though these indentions were not the actual footprints of Jesus (a great deal of Christian folklore became associated with the "Rock"), early Christians came to believe they were the literal outlines of Jesus’ feet. It is easy to explain how this conclusion came to be associated with the "Rock" under the Dome of the Rock.

The so-called footprints came into vogue when later Christians noticed in the New Testament that a "Judgment Seat" was placed by Pilate on the "Rock" (called in Greek a bematos). That word comes from the root word bema that literally means footprint, or by common usage a footstool where a king or a ruler in judgment would place his feet when he sat on a throne in order to sentence people in any official judicial event. Indeed, even the throne of God was reckoned in the Bible as a spot where God placed His feet below the Ark of the Covenant in the Temple when He sat or stood to make His divine judgments (Psalms 99:5; 132:7; Lamentations 2:1). Each military governor of the Romans carried his official bema or bematos with him in order to make his judgments on behalf of the emperor, and Julius Caesar carried one with him everywhere he went in order to render official judgments (see "Praetorium," Hasting’s Bible Dictionary). Later Christians simply confused the literal meaning of bema [footprint] and the indentions they saw in the natural outcropping of rock became "Jesus’ footprints." Though this was error, the reckoning became an indelible identifying mark associated with the "Rock" where Pilate made his judgment against Jesus. This "Rock" (called "the Pavement" by the apostle John) was well known in the time of Constantine. The records show that Helena, the mother of Constantine, ordered that a small Christian Church with the name "St.Cyrus and St.John" be built over that "Rock" (see Life of Constantine in Wilkinson’s Jerusalem Pilgrims Before the Crusades, p. 204). This small church was later enlarged probably in the fifth century to become a major church in Jerusalem called "The Church of the Holy Wisdom." This church is described very well (and accurately) in a sixth century work written by the Piacenza Pilgrim. He said (with words in brackets mine):

"We also prayed at the Praetorium, where the Lord’s case was heard: what is there now is the basilica of Saint Sophia [the Holy Wisdom Church], which is in front [north] of the Temple of Solomon [located] below the street [east and downslope] which runs down to the spring of Siloam outside of Solomon’s porch [the eastern wall of Solomon’s Temple]. In this basilica is the seat where Pilate sat to hear the Lord’s case, and there is also the oblong stone [I emphasize this point about the "oblong stone" to help identify the spot] which used to be in the center of the Praetorium [the Praetorium tent was moveable]. The accused person whose case was being heard was made to mount this stone so that everyone could hear and see him. The Lord mounted it when he was heard by Pilate, and his footprints [italicized for emphasis] are still on it. He had a well-shaped foot, small and delicate."

This Church of the Holy Wisdom (which the Pilgrim had just described) was built over "the oblong stone" which the people thought had the footprints of Jesus embedded in it. Just as Josephus stated that the "Rock" was the most prominent part of Fort Antonia [the Praetorium area], so this "oblong stone" was the central feature of the Church of the Holy Wisdom (that was destroyed by the Persians and Jewish soldiers in 614 A.D.). This is the same "Rock" that is now under the Dome of the Rock in the Haram esh-Sharif. The fact that later Christians thought the footprints of Jesus were embedded in this "Rock," is a key for identification. There are historical references both Christian and Muslim that attest that the "Rock" over which the Dome of the Rock now stands was the same "Rock or Stone" that had the footprints of Jesus inlayed as foot-like depressions sunk into the "Rock." Indeed, even as late as the period of the Crusades we read that the court recorder of Saladin (the Muslim who reconquered Jerusalem from the Crusaders in 1187 A.D.) made mention that Jesus’ footprints had been embedded in the "Rock" underneath the Dome of the Rock (see article "Saladin" in Brill’s First Encyclopaedia of Islam). There are several other Muslim references to these footprints of Jesus in the "Rock" under the Dome of the Rock that I have present in a more extended context in my new book "The Temples that Jerusalem Forgot." In fact, in the book I will show in a future article that those footprints of Jesus were sawed away from the "Rock" and placed in a location within the Haram esh-Sharif about 200 yards north of the Dome of the Rock. This later fact is a most interesting and important aspect of the story.

In short, there can be no doubt of the identification. The "Rock" of the Dome of the Rock (which is clearly oblong in shape) and the "oblong stone" within the Church of the Holy Wisdom were one and the same "Rock/Stone." Sophronius, the Archbishop of Jerusalem in the time of Omar when the Muslims first conquered Jerusalem, called the Church of the Holy Wisdom (when it was yet standing before its destruction in 614 A.D.) as "the House and the Stone" (Sophronius, Antacroeontica as translated by John Wilkinson in Jerusalem Pilgrims Before the Crusades, p.91). This fact shows that Sophronius saw great significance in the "Rock/ Stone." That "Rock" that later became the spot for the Dome of the Rock to Sophronius was the very stone called "the Pavement" mentioned in John 19:13 (rendered in Greek as the Lithostrotos, and in Hebrew Gabbatha).

Why the Dome of the Rock Was Built by Abd al-Malik in 692 A.D.

During the first hundred years of Muslim rule in Jerusalem (since more than 90% of the population was Christian) was one of conciliation and ecumenism between Muslims and Christians and between Muslims and Jews. This does not mean that the Muslims wanted to embrace some of the teachings of Christianity. The Muslims abhorred what they believed to be outright idolatry among Christians with their statues, pictures and pagan practices within the Christian community, but they still thought in this early period that they could wean Christians away from their religious beliefs unto the new Islam that God had now revealed to the world by Muhammad. This was the central reason why Abd al-Malik first devised and designed the building called the Dome of the Rock to be built over the Christian spot where once the Church of the Holy Wisdom had stood. His attempt was ecumenical in its spiritual intent, but still to show the superiority of Islam over what Abd al-Malik believed to be a decadent type of Christianity. The fact is, the Dome of the Rock was built exclusively to vie with (and to appeal to) Christians in Jerusalem to accept the new truth of Islam which was (in the Muslim view) a major advance in proper religious interpretation that the "Peoples of the Book" (the Christians and Jews) ought to have enough sense to accept. And though Jews were also accounted as being "People of the Book," the construction of the Dome of the Rock was NOT intended in any manner to influence Jews. After all, Jews would NOT have reckoned as important a "Rock" that was exclusively a Christian religious site because it was identified with "the Pavement" recorded in the Gospel of John (John 19:13). In a word, Abd al-Malik and the early Muslims felt they could effectively (in an intellectual and philosophical way) convince Christians that Islam was correct by constructing the Dome of the Rock and to include within it a message from Islam that would glorify Muslim theology.

So, Abd al-Malik set out in 692 A.D. to woo the Christians to Islam. What he did was to rebuild in the exact spot and in the precise form "The Church of the Holy Wisdom" that had been destroyed by the Persians and Jews in 614 A.D. (and he desired it to have as much architectural grandeur as the Church of the Holy Sepulchre). He then built what looked like a grand Byzantine "Church" directly over the very "Rock" that Christians believed contained the footprints of Jesus. Abd al-Malik did not design the Dome of the Rock as a Muslim type of building. He wanted it to appear as a rebuilt Church of the Holy Wisdom (the reason for this I will explain in my new book on the Temples). The Muslim Caliph designed the building to be like a "Church," but one that contained the new and advanced teaching of Islam. Within this new (or renewed) "Church," Abd al-Malik placed two inscriptions in Arabic. One was to Muslims in general (the outer inscription), and the other was exclusively for Christians (the inner inscription next to the "Rock" itself). That inner inscription specifically mentions Jesus and the supposed errors of some Christian doctrines. Abd al-Malik was appealing exclusively to Christians by emphasizing this Christian holy spot through Muslim eyes, NOT to Jews who did not yet accept Jesus as the Messiah as did Muslims and Christians. And in attempting to wean the Christians from their former beliefs unto the new Islam, Abd al-Malik used every architectural artifice and symbolic nuance he knew in a brilliant maneuver to woo the Christians of Jerusalem to accept Islam in a non-offensive way. He did so with a deliberate and steadfast allegiance to Muhammad that made Islam the dominant religion for all mankind, including those who then accepted Christianity.

Re: Building the Third Temple ~ And Demolishing the Dome of the Rock
the "dome" of the rock is the "celestial vault". the "rock", in this phrase, is the earth.

the "rock" of AGES is the sun, sun AGES.

the "golden calf" being thrown out of the temple, and the ram´s horns being put in the temple symbolized the transition from the age of taurus to the age of aries. the "rock of AGES" determined this.
ram rituals should have stopped at the dawn of the age of the "sign of the fish".
sign of the fish symbolism should stop at the dawn of the age of the sign of the baptizer/baptism. again, this being determined by the "dome" of the rock and the "rock of AGES".
ON EARTH, as it is, in heaven. AMEN

Re: Building the Third Temple ~ And Demolishing the Dome of the Rock
Zionism, he says, "is a very compelling narrative, but it is totally self-contained, a bubble in which Israelis separate themselves from all others." Israelis regard everyone else as irrelevant. When it is suggested that fear motivates this self-absorption, Halper disagrees. "It´s not so much fear," he says; Israelis "just don´t give a damn. They make everyone else a non-issue. They see themselves as the victim, and if you´re the victim, you´re not responsible for anything you do."

Anything goes if you are the victim, he explains: you don´t care about the consequences of your actions for other people, you need not take any responsibility for the effect of your policies on others, you don´t care about how others feel. Israelis always think they´re right, he says. They believe everything they do is right because the Jewish nation is "right," because they are only responding to what others do to them, only retaliating. "If you combine three elements: the idea that we are right, with the notion that we´re the victim, and with our great military power," he says, you have a lethal combination. ... Israel can act with brutality, but the responsibility, the fault, lies elsewhere. ... {end}buttdubya
Now hold on pardners, I´m a victim too- I just gotta hol a some bad crack! YeeeeeeeeHaaaaa

"when the dome of the rock go, you can be sure the sh*T will hit the fan"

Maybe not. Consider this scenario:

Israel "secretly" uses the F-16s and bunkerbusters we recently "sold" to them to attack Iran´s nuclear sites. Iran rightfully blames the US and fires their anti-ship missiles at out fleet in the Persian Gulf decimating it and "causing" war. At the same time they would blame Israel and fire missiles at them. A few "errant Iranian missiles" strike the mosques destroying them and clearing the way for the third temple while at the same time turning the rest of the Moslem world against Iran.

Hey, it could happen.
