if you look at darksiders tree of wisdome cutscene. you will see that abadon has been tricked and betrayed by the light itself.
I think he was mind controlled by lilith as right before he dropped his sword and bow down to her pay attention to a small lighting ball that is moving from the tip of his sword towards him and the moment it reaches him he drops his sword and then kneels to medusa. AND HOLY SHIT WHAT I JUST REMEMBERED MAN!

Sorry for the caps i got so excited i connected those dots as i knew from the first sight of that cutscene with abaddon from darksiders that the little innocent light that approached him was very far from innocent. You see how important is to pay attention to details.

Also on the 7:39 screen pay attention to the reptilian eye war has on his armor.
At 7:25 when the dragon speaks of his past self abaddon he said "foolishly he chose duty above all and died for it" right before that he said "uriel mistook him for someone else" which proved that lilith erased him and implant him a new personality and thats why the dragon said abaddon died for his duty (which proves once again memory erasing=death!), cause the moment that light from lilith touched him he was screwed!
Also pay attention to the armor of the dragon, he has a female face on it with chinese eyes!
Indeed the chinese are a dragonian hybrid race!
When the draogn asked the same thing lilith asked abaddon "would you serve in heaven or rule in hell" that gives it away big time that abaddon the dragon became just another erased mind controlled vessel for medusa/lilith/persephone.
At 1:07 is the part where you can see the cabin in the woods style/method lilith used to make abaddon drop his weapon and take control over him.
