Astrometry as well as most of the other software that is used here (Stellarium, Celestia) is OPEN SOURCE! This means the source is open! OPEN! This means there is NO PLACE to hide anything in these programs.

You mean somebody a year or two ago when we downloaded and installed the software has hidden some fake stars (and some fake planets) that will on April 1st 2011 suddenly be "activated" and match *EXACTLY* (to the pixel exact) some frame from some random youtube video and then immediately disappear again (without a trace) so nobody of the millions of amateur astronomers who are using it on a daily basis to guide their telescopes will notice it?

And this *complicated* mechanism is hidden although *ALL* of the the code is open and publicly readable and there is no place to hide anything?

And the same thing is not only in Stellarium but also in Celestia and in Cartes du Ceil and in Starry Nights and in Redshift and many others?

Please show us some of this hidden code that produces fake stars and fake planets in wrong positions and that was so accurately planned at least 2 years ago to match a youtube video in 2011. It should not be a problem because all source code files are included.

And please tell me why I can still see Venus (or the fake Venus?) with my naked eye in the sky at the exact position that is calculated in Stellarium and in Celestia and in Redshift and in Starry Nights etc. etc. And If I am seeing the fake Venus, then where has the real Venus gone?

If you go back to my other post you will see that I said I believe that maybe this is Venus, maybe it is not. I still haven't seen any positive proof that it is. I am only seeing an arrangement of evidence from sources that I am supposed to trust, but are questionable for reasons stated.

Astronut showed stereo images of this Venus only as far back as 2008. I would like to see stereo images of Venus before 2000,
or before 1995. Then I would like to know if this truly is Venus, why did it's appearance change enough in the last several years
to look suspect?

The software that was used does not originate from TPTB, it was written by the users themselves! It is open source software! It was written by amateur astronomers and the entire source code is open for everybody to examine it to learn how the program works in every detail.

This completely invalidates your argument.

If these softwares would not be able to calculate the position of the planets as accurately as possible then nobody would use them.

And if the calculated position of Venus (calculated with one of these softwares which are KNOWN to be exact) would be in the picture in the exact same place where the bright spot is in the picture then there are only two logical explanations:

a) it is Venus and nothing else

b) it is Venus and additionally exactly behind it or in front of it there is a second unknown body hiding that cannot be seen in the photo because it is hidden by Venus.

if b is true then we simply have to wait a few days until we can see a photo from a slightly different angle.

Users can be bribed and/or threatened, or don't you know that? I do. "Open source" or not.

Other than that, did you even understand the rest of what I said?

There is no place to hide any conspiracy because all files that belong to the program are open and readable in plain text. Every 12 year old computer geek could open the files in notepad, read the code and see the conspiracy.

And also the millions of hobby astronomers and other users who use it to guide their telescopes (and discuss their hobby and their instruments and their software in hundreds of forums on the internet) would immediately notice any malfunction. Such a software simply CANNOT display the known planets and stars in any other positions than they really are without the deviation immediately being noticed, publicly discussed and its cause researched, identified and REMOVED.

As far as open source, I have to agree that other than the controller, it would be hard to hijack without it being noticed. But not impossible (ie, Open Office. org pragrams being hijacked and sold, etc...) But I cannot find this to be the case here....

Good Lord, I debated this nutjob on that site over the existence of the shuttle and ISS. And now he may have tried to assassinate a congresswoman in part due to her relationship with NASA? There was clearly no getting through to him, he didn´t really debate people so much as continue rambling at them. Still, I´m not sure how I feel about being involved in the attempt to reason with him. I can´t help but wonder if it only served to solidify his beliefs. Certainly what he needed was professional mental help, not me trying to prove to him that space travel is real.
