For example, in the rain water we collected in 18 hours between March 17 and March 18 we observe an activity of the isotope of I-131 (Iodine-131) of 4.26 Bq/l. At this level, you would need to drink 632 liters of this rain water to obtain the same radiation effects you obtain on a round-trip flight between San Francisco and Washington D.C. Therefore, the increase in radiation levels in the rain water due to the events in Japan remain extremely small.

I was watching this guy on Fox News today, some kind of expert in radiation and he was saying everything is great that there is no need to worry. He said the amount of exposure is like a needle in a haystack. Now I see this where the rain water is actually greater then normal safe levels. wtf????

Stop repeating the bullshit. There is no comparison to radiation CONSUMED to flying in a plane or having an xray.

They are also not saying the levels are increasing. That the rain directly feeds into the municipal water supply in California. The reactors have only increased in radioactivity, and the amount of radioactive particles they are spewing into the environment.

Face it.These are probably the lowest amounts of radiation we will have in our water supply until they get the plants under 20 feet of reinforced concrete.

And do not give me that crap about half life of 8 days either. In 32 days it will still be 2500% above the legal limit.

Isn't there a difference between ingesting radioactive particles and being exposed to radiation alpha/beta/gamma waves?

The particles of radiation cause cancer once they are inside the body.

That reminds me of the lady journalist who commented negatively about Sarah Palin killing elk, etc. to use for meat.

This lady jouralist said something to this effect: "They should not kill animals to use for meat. They should go to the grocery store to buy their meat like everyone else does."

Good grief. I cannot understand the absolute ignorance and stupidity of some people. /shakes head in disbelief/

Such Bullshit about the comparison. Radiation in flight is one and done.

NO ONE has mentioned how this gets concentrated in the food chain. WHICH WE SIT ON TOP OF!!!

Plus as others have noted, this shit is INSIDE A CELL as part of some structure in your body, radiating... No mention of Cesium and other crap that has a lot longer 1/2 life!
