Peta, rescues them and humanly euthenizez them by first anesthesia then euthenizes them. They would love to rescue them all, but thee is no place for them since people want their perfect little purebread puppy, so actually, since they are marked for death, Peta does it humane. VivianV  User ID: 1321545 United States04/01/2011 02:27 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | According to official shelter reports filed with the Commonwealth of Virginia (where the PETA "shelter", if you want to call it that, is located), PETA took in 2345 animals, of which 44 were adopted out, 2,200 were killed (euphemistic word used in report is "euthanized"), and 63 were transferred out of the shelter. PETA's kill rate in 2010 was 93.81%. And PETA is telling breeders, farmers, etc what they should be doing??!! Donate to your local animal shelter, never to PETA or HSUS. Its better for them to be dead than suffering with all those fuckers who "take care" of animals. I'd rather be dead than with some hoarder living in my own filth with millions of other animals filth and the nasty human's filth. Who knows, maybe its best to just die peacefully sometimes. Sure enough, a van drove up and officers watched the occupants throw in heavy plastic bags. They detained the two people in the van and found 18 dead dogs in plastic bags in the dumpster, including puppies; 13 more dead dogs were still in the van. Police say the van is registered to the headquarters of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, and the two occupants, Andrew B. Cook, 24, and Adria Joy Hinkle, 27, identified themselves as PETA employees. An autopsy performed on one of the dogs found it was healthy before it was killed. Police say PETA has been picking up the animals -- alive -- from North Carolina animal shelters, promising to find them good homes. Cook and Hinkle have been charged with 62 felony counts of animal cruelty. |

There are unwanted dogs in shelters because of irresponsible pet owners who take no precautions to prevent unwanted pet pregnancies. |

Thanks for bringing this up, OP...(Unfortunately, I witnessed, firsthand, some horrific occurrences at a Humane Society shelter, as well...so I just don't know who to trust anymore, with regard to the treatment of animals. :( Occurrences like the ones you mentioned absolutely break my heart  ) |

If you watch the videos of the gassing you'd see they are clearly not asleep. Clearly. bing it. I like Peta. They're controversal on purpose and not afraid to speak the truth, or offend. Pretty much what alot of people on this site stand for. They also euthenize animals who are so far gone, not getting care, and suffering....
