In case anyone knows, what sort of repercussions are there on the thyroid hormones once protective doses given long term. There have to be limits and cautions on this.
Especially with 32.2 mg and also 250 mcg. as well.

If there is not one caution for this powerful substance I regard this whole thread a dangerously amateurish one.

I'm not fully understanding your question but I'll give it a try...

When you say protective doses are you referring to the 130 mg pills that they give to those within a radioactive area. Not sure how the "tptb" came up with that dosage but my own belief is that this was a short term dosage for those in an area that would be hit "once" (so to speak) with radiation and that over days the radiation dissipates. I could be wrong about that.

Repercussions on the thyroid hormones?

Well again I'll give it a try...

Our bodies have Iodine receptors sites on EVERY CELL in our bodies. However, Bromide, Fluoride, Chlorine are Halogens just like Iodine...and each one of the 1st three can displace Iodine and sit on the Iodine receptors site. Only until enough Iodine is taken long term to "wash" these others out of the body does Iodine then take it's rightful spot...and since we are constantly ingesting or obtaining these other halogens we have to continue to take Iodine.

See link to understand displacement of Iodine

Powerful substance?

Again let me give it a go....

Powerful yes in that it is so beneficial to the body! Please take the time to look at the slide presentation and click on all the links and read everything you can. You will not be disappointed.

The only "negative" thing if you want to call it that about Iodine is that it causes a detox reaction of some really nasty substances...and when folks go through detox they think "oh Iodine must be bad" instead of thinking "I'm getting some really nasty stuff out of my body". You could look at it as a "herxheimer" effect ... that when you body is healing you may fell worse at times instead of better...it has been a jigsaw effect for me...but well worth it...and you can help yourself with the detox by salt loading, taking companion nutrients and pulse dosing (taking days off of Iodine)

The longer I take Iodine, the better I feel! Going on 6 months for me now.

And as a side note for those worried about taking to much Potassium IoDIDE

The Nobel laureate Dr. Albert Szent Györgi (1893—1986), the physician who discovered vitamin C, writes: "When I was a medical student, iodine in the form of KI was the universal medicine. Nobody knew what it did, but it did something and did something good. We students used to sum up the situation in this little rhyme:

If ye don't know where, what, and why
Prescribe ye then K and I"

The standard dose of potassium iodide given was 1 gram, which contains 770 mg of iodine.

Dr Gyorgi took a gram a day and lived til 93.

But again it is important to note that our bodies need both Iodine and IoDIDE
