Re: Boise rainwater has highest levels of radioactive material… 80 times amount of I-131 allowed in drinking water
… Boise’s levels were higher than any other U.S. city in the report; most U.S. cities in the study had levels of cesium and iodine 131 that were not detectable. Officials had no explanation Saturday for why Idaho would have higher levels, but said the levels that were detected were far below levels that would warrant public-health concern.

Radiation in precipitation is measured because it affects not only the air, but vegetation, including grass eaten by cows that produce milk for human consumption.

Thank you for that reporting effort.

I do wish though they would start reporting also on the amount of Sr-89 and Sr-90 they are finding as having fallen out on the ground as fallout, in terms of pCi/m^2. Also not going reported or perhaps even monitored is the amount of I-129.

What a pathetic fucking federal Govt 'study'.

1) Dumbasses should concentrate on the Mountain West for starters. Actually Boise makes a tremendous amount of sense. So would places like Portland and Seattle. But since the dumbasses didn't check the water in the NW (except for Boise and Olympia on St Pat's Day), there's nothing to report.

2) And look at the dates some of these samples were collected. Well before radiation reached N America:

Why does this or that area have a higher or lower amount of radiation from Japan than some other area? The answer is rain. The radiation is in the atmosphere. A small amount may fall as it's traveling, but the most will fall when it rains. If a particular patch of radioactive particles in the atmosphere float over California but then get carried down with rain onto Idaho, there's your answer.
