Gadar is not a sense, it is the ability to perceive.

Through observation and knowing a few things its not too hard to detect who is gay and who is straight by watching their eyes and observing on which gender their eyes linger.

Pupils dilate, minor twitches and muscle contractions take place in the face, all screaming 'Oh God S/He is HOT!' all the while they are carrying on their conversation about whatever boring small talk topic they are having with the person they know to be whatever.

Our brains process a lot of sensory data each second of life. Most of that data we are not aware of until something draws our attention to it.

Most people do not hear that 'scream' because they are not being observant. Gays are observant and are often on constant look out for the tell tale sign of homosexuality, after all likes tend to be drawn to likes.
