Very interesting question.

There are several factors to why Jewish people seem to be so succesful. I won't claim to know all of them but I have stumbled upon a few factors.

First and foremost reason is; religion. It is fundamentally different from Christianity and Islam in the sense that it doesn't scare the living shit out of you and make you out to be a nothing and nobody.

Second being, the persecution of Jewish people throughout thousands of years. A little logic dictates that the persecuted will have to outsmart the persecuters to stay alive. So they HAD to outsmart people for thousands of years in the name of survival.

Third one, once you get to a power position it is only logical to bring in people you know. Maybe in your family or in your church or of your faith etc.

Well yeah, that's why it's third place since I also have severe doubts about that one. However, it wouldn't be that weird or awkward, nearly EVERYBODY does it.

I'm quite confident about the first two points though.

I don't find it hard to believe, having spent eighteen years there, teaching English to, collectively, the best students that I ever encountered during forty years in the classroom. They bring out the best in their teachers.
