Yes! Your story sounds very similar to mine. I was on Singulair and Advair at the same time. The original diagnosis was allergy-induced asthma that hit me at around age 35 after a terrible bout of bronchitis one spring. I gained 35 pounds in about 4 months, but can't say if it was due directly to the meds or due to the fact that it took me a good 6 months to get over the bronchitis and I wasn't exercising at all during that time (plus I was in my final semester at school, single mom, in the process of having a house built, and moving out of the area - extremely busy and stressed out during that time, and wasn't exercising or really eating properly). I have been off of both for a few years, but unfortunately have not lost the weight that I gained (have recently been diagnosed with hypothyroidism and have started treatment for that - my energy levels are up, by my weight has not started dropping yet, although I'm told it will). I personally do not and never did believe I had asthma, so just quit using the meds on my own (not necessarily recommending this). I started on Zyrtec for allergies and have not had nearly as many problems breathing as I did when on the Singulair and Advair. That and I sleep with a humidifier, which I think has done more than any of the meds. Anyway, something happened right about the time I had bronchitis that just totally threw my system for a loop, screwed up my metabolism, robbed what little energy I had, stole all of my brain cells, and tossed me into early menopause. Viral? Drug-induced? Who knows. But, I do believe it was all related.
