Fukushima to Burn Highly-Radioactive Debris
Fukushima will start burning radioactive debris containing up to 100,000 becquerels of radioactive cesium per kilogram. As Mainchi notes:

The state will start building storage facilities for debris generated by the March 2011 tsunami as early as May at two locations in a coastal area of Naraha town, Fukushima Prefecture, Environment Ministry and town officials said Saturday.

About 25,000 tons of debris are expected to be brought into the facilities beginning in the summer, according to the officials.

If more than 100,000 becquerels of radioactive cesium are found per kilogram of debris, the debris will be transferred to a medium-term storage facility to be built by the state. But if burnable debris contains 100,000 becquerels of radioactive cesium or less, it may be disposed of at a temporary incinerator to be built within the prefecture, according to the officials.

Within the 20-km-radius no-go zone spanning across Naraha and five other municipalities along the coast, debris caused by the magnitude 9.0 quake and the subsequent tsunami has amounted to an estimated 474,000 tons, much of remaining where it is.

I call fear mongering on this post..yes there was an unusually high amount of radiation found on some kelp species off the coast of California..but the radiation dissipated very quickly and now reads normal.

It is impossible for the radiation background in Japan to be the same as in California..the radiation has too far to travel across the ocean to keep its potency..it dissipates rather quickly and by the time it reaches the west coast it is negligible.

This is a fact..stop trying to scare people..there is no conspiracy here..

I am not a paid shill either, nor do i work for the government or any environmental organization..just plain and simple facts about the decay of radioactive particles is enough to convince anyone that this post is bullcrap.

No Government wants to admit to a danger that is invisible. It hurts the economy. If increased radiation in the environment was actually visible to the naked eye, there would be no need to lie because the damage would be apparent. The damage is indeed here and bio-accumulating. The situation in Japan is not under control and could very well get worse. Why the best minds in the world are not demanding to be participants in the solution is beyond me. If the #4 fuel pool falls to the ground, all bets are off. You can bet world governments know this..Why no action?

Alpha radiation is the weakest. It can be stopped by a piece of paper and posses no threat to any human tissue.

Beta radiation is strong, but still not lethal. It can be stopped by most clothing or fabrics.

Gamma radiation is the strongest. It can only be stopped by lead. It posses great harm to tissue that it comes in contact with.

Ok, one problem. We have several geiger counters and they are not registering anything. SO I am having a REALLY hard time believing that the thread is equivalent to being next to 6 units of Fukushima!!!
