Suggestion for breaking stories: Consolidate multiple threads on one subject, but color each thread differently in new amalgamated thread

When everybody rushes to get the news out, we end up with multiple threads. It would be great if the different threads were combined into one thread, but if the posts from the threads being phased into the new thread had different colors so the posts could be spotted and whatever subject matter hanging could be wrapped up, important info would be less likely to fall through the cracks.

And while I'm at it, I'd like a pony.
