Maybe you should have stayed away from the "Adult sites". They are notorious for harboring malware and viruses.

Re: Nasty Virus / Fake "Windows Restore"
Anyway, here's how you need to do this:

1. Get an external HDD (to back up your files).

2. Go to [link to www.ubuntu.com] and get the .iso. Burn that .iso file to a disc (DVD, CD).

3. Put the disc in your PC/Laptop disc drive. Restart. Once the PC/Laptop turns on, hit F2, F8 or F12 (it'll say on your computer screen - usually it's F12).

4. Choose to "boot" your computer from the CD/DVD.

5. Ubuntu Linux starts. Now, click try.

6. Mount your computer hard drive.

7. Copy the files you want onto your external HDD.

8. WIPE FUCKING WINDOWS OFF YOUR SYSTEM. Install your choice Linux (if you're a Windows user, do Ubuntu, simple as pie).

There, no viruses ever again. You don't even need virus software. Yes, you can browse the web. Yes, you can use YouTube, whatever you want. This site. Yes, you can play music, videos and almost all games (WINE).

Alternate Method:

1. Boot the Ubuntu Linux CD.

2. Install Linux SIDE BY SIDE with your Windows partition.

3. Go into Ubuntu, mount your hard drive from Windows and use it as pleased. Or back up, whatever.

QUIT FUCKING USING MONOPOLY/VIRUS/MALWARE WINDOWS.

No problem. If you need more help, or good guidance along the way, let me know. Make sure you get the right .iso. If you have an Intel PC, get the Intel .iso - if you're running a 64 bit Intel, get the 64 bit, if not, 32, etc.

Get back to me if you want to know how to do anything else. In fact, I'll invite you to chat with me if you're up to you. Linux all the way!

I don't use a PC anymore, i'm a faithful MAC user now however when I did use PC's I kept a flash drive with Malwarebytes on it and would use it in safe mode to fix any nasty bugs on my or friends PC's. I can walk you through this method if you still need help :)

Good luck

Boot into safe mode with networking.

If you do not have these apps installed, download:

Malwarebytes
SpyBot Search and Destroy
CCleaner

Run Malwarebytes, reboot back into Safe Mode
Run Spybot S&D, reboot back into Safe Mode
Run CCleaner, reboot normal, and you should be good to go.

I have to give remote assistance to a family member at least weekly do to his porn addiction.

As someone else stated, just quit going to porn sites.

I love Linux, but IMO, the average Windows user will get frustrated with it.

If you are addicted to porn, buy a Mac, you can always find a great deal on year old equipment online.

Really? Mint or Ubuntu? They're so... simply. My wife uses Linux... she picked it up in less than day and loved it. Said it was easier than Windows by far.

But you're right, I guess. Honestly, if you know how to click buttons, then you're smart enough to use Linux.

Re: Nasty Virus / Fake "Windows Restore"
I got one called "windows 7 anti virus". It's NOT a Microsoft program. I tried to "restore", "recover" with my discs, run "microsoft security essentials", run "panda" online scan, hit "f8" to so into "safe mode". It stoped me at every turn.

I figured my 1 year old desktop was toast. Then I let it boot up and clicked on my browser to come up. It said it was unsafe. I clicked proceed anyway. Then I downloaded the "Comcast free Norton" and installed it.

It cleaned it up and then MS Security Essentials also found some nasties.

I am not sure where I got it but now Norton is running in the background and I am happy.

Comcast users can get Norton free on the Comcast home page.

That's definitely not "one" easy fix. Why? You'll always get viruses on Windows. Always. Even if you fix the ones you do have, you'll get more down the road. So why bother with all the malware? All the security threats? All the viruses? Just put up with them?

Screw that, Jack. Set yourself free permanently.
