Comedian said on another thread about this ACS 'They sent me one but I didn't get it; then they sent me another one but I didn't get that one either'.
PRICELESS !!!toungecool2

Yes, I wish they would just mail them instead of showing up at my door. I told my husband I want to put a gate up across the front of our place with "No Tresspassing" signs.

I have a gate.

The gate has a sign that says
"If you can read this, our snipers can drop you".

We don't get bothered.

Roflmao

Comedian.....thats friggin priceless. Our one neighbor on the volunteer fire dept. has a sign in his window that says "This home guarded by shotgun 3 nights per week. You guess which 3!"

When we were having troubles with one of my cousin's exs....I drew a chalk outline outside the front door and put his name in it. He came, I answered the door and instructed him to look down. He never did come back after that.

How odd...
Have you told her flat out that you don't want to/will not participate in the survey?

I say go ahead & call the cops, if she comes back, and don't explain in detail on the phone when you do.
Don't say 'There's a creepy census worker bugging me'
Just say 'there's a total stranger harassing me at my home, she won't leave altho I've told her repeatedly to go! I don't know her, and I feel very threatened!' Give your address, then hang up. If 911 calls back (they likely will) do not answer it. A car will be at your drive within moments. Turn the ringer down after you call 911 so you can honestly say "Oh sorry - ringer was off!" when they complain about calling you back & you not answering.

Fight fire with fire...that bitch has no right to infringe on your peaceful existence. Even the gov't wouldn't say that she has. She's just playin' you. Don't let her get away with it again.

Good luck. hf
 Quoting: SwampWitch

Thanks. I'm not hot on cops, though. We actually don't have police here in the sticks. I would have to call the sheriff. They're nice enough but I grew up in an inner city - just don't trust any of them on general principle.

I did tell her flat out that I already answered the census and would not be answering any supplemental surveys. Meanwhile, I will try not answering the door. My husband agreed to put up cattle panels across the driveways and I'll hang "No Trespassing" signs. It'll be a pain to fence 200 feet across the front so she'll be able to walk around the gates on the lawn. It'll be interesting to see if she is that brazen.

she was almost laughing saying that they are just going to keep harassing me until I fill it out. Ugh ... any advice on how to get rid of this bitch?
 Quoting: Girl Genius

Is she admitting guilt here?
I wonder if there are incentives which are now creating dangerous circumstances, such as but not limited to harassment.
This is not legal advice, but sounds like a creepy and dangerous PERSON to me.
Did you catch that PERSON's name?

Maybe they get a bonus based on how many responses they get. Yes, I have her card. I was surprised at how she was chuckling. I tower over her - really wanted to spin her around and send her on her way, lol. Almost did. Glad I caught myself.

Re: Census Madness!!! American Community Survey - are they bugging you? Advice?
I have a friend who was a Census supervisor. He told me what ever you tell them they have to write down and they cant ask for proof. For example: Say you're a black 20 year old single woman who is professional delivery truck driver.
How long have you lived here? oh I'm moving
Name? John Smith
Ok John, what is your gender? Male
How old are you? 60
Race: chinese
Marital status? polygamist
occupation? street walker
drivers license# ? don't have one
number of dependents? 42
Ages of dependents? 92,1, 0, 24...

As a supervisor my friend said the issue isn't what data they collect, most of them have to re-visit citizens because the census workers fill out the form wrong. It doesn't matter what you tell them, they have to collect it right and are incompetent with their forms.

I was thinking about that. I am going to try not answering the door. I spoke to my husband about it and he promised he would not answer the door when she knocks. I read that it is only for a few months that they canvas a particular area and move on. I'll let you know how it goes :)

Okay - since I posted this they have written me another threatening ("or you will be fined") letter and came back again today. I told the lady she needed to leave and not come back and she was almost laughing saying that they are just going to keep harassing me until I fill it out. Ugh ... any advice on how to get rid of this bitch?

I had a guy come out for the ACS and I told him I didn't want to do it. He threatened me with a fine. He came by twice more (that I know of) and I didn't answer the door.

Now they are sending some lady after me, she came by twice today (I didn't answer) and left her card with a brochure thing and a note. This lady is also threatening a $500 federal fine.

Has anyone actually been fined for this??

I was a recipient of the Community America Survey, too, and refused to fill it out. They ultimately sent three different people to my house over the course of a couple months. I told each one that there was one resident here, and that is all I am required to disclose for the census. Two of the three didn't give me too hard of a time about it, but this one lady totally wanted to argue and bully me, and threatened that I could be fined etc. Basically I just repeated my statement about one resident etc., and told her to have a nice day and shut the door in her face. That was like a year ago, and I was never fined or anything like that.

There was no way I was going to answer all of those personal questions, and if they would've tried to fine me, I would've welcomed the opportunity to challenge it in court. From what I understand, they almost never actually fine or punish anyone in any way, because they know that, per the constitution, you are only required to tell the number of residents, so they know they'd lose in court.

Thanks Ambassador. So you didn't get fined... cool.

I did the regular census thing telling them how many lived at my place... but some of the questions on the ACS are ridiculous!

For example they want to know how I get to work... and what time I leave! They want to know my annual income, and the amount and sources of any and all other income WTF?!!

They also want to know If I have trouble walking or climbing stairs and if I have trouble bathing???!!

You kidding me!!?

Re: Census Madness!!! American Community Survey - are they bugging you? Advice?
So, ok, I got my second visit today. I have not seen the two surveys they sent me, and I had some woman put a note on the front door saying she stopped by. Now, today, this older guy walks up my walk, rings the bell, and launches into his spiel. I told him I did not see the survey, and he goes in to this "We need the demographic info for your neighborhood, number of bedrooms, etc" I tell him that I am not going to answer any other questions, and he asks me "Why?" I stared at him for a few seconds, and then told him that that would be a question, so I will not answer. Then he tells me that my house was selected to participate. Oh, ok, I say, then by all means, ask my house anything you want. As I start to close the door, he looks straight at me and says "Your response is required by law." Straight to the hole card. Then I told him that the law requires him to remove himself from my property if he doesn't have permission to be there, and that if he does not, then he is trespassing, so please remove yourself from my property. He went, kinda pissy, but he left. I figure they will try to get my wife by herself tomorrow or the next week. Better not. She is a nervous little thing, and I have taught her all kinds of stuff.
