Golden Raisins + Gin = Arthritis relief?!
I just heard about this from a buddy of mine.

I was like WHAT?!
That sounds bogus.

Google and found a bunch of articles and discussions some pro some not so much.

Just wonderin, if any of the GLP faithful can lend their testimonial opinion on this.

Just one example of the info I'm reading on it:

I've also heard that rum or vodka work too.

Re: Golden Raisins + Gin = Arthritis relief?!
This thread needs resurrecting because I want to TESTIFY!!!!

Try it! Been taking them for arthritis in the lumbar spine, knees and the sacrailiac joints since October 30 of 2012, (about 17 days now), and I've not had to use the pain meds more than twice since then for it....and those two times were in the beginning.

Soaked the raisins, (they have to be the "golden" variety), in gin for two weeks. The gin was almost completely evaporated by then. I take about nine per day.

I've been sleeping through the alarm every day because my spine has stopped waking me up with grinding pain......:)

From what I hear, it is the juniper berries used to flavor gin, combined with the natural pain-relieving properties of raisins that does this.

Also, there is absolutely NO intoxifying effect. I guess you could get tipsy eating a whole jar of them, but with only nine or so every day, there is nothing to worry about.

I was worried that it might have sedating effects on me....I have little ones and need ALL of my energy and alertness.....but this has not been an issue at all.

Hope this helps someone!!!!!

thanks Hag, I could use some help as well.hf
I am in need of both knees needing replacement - but, have no ins. so the pain just gets worst by the month(going on 2 yrs now). I deal with the pain as much as possible as I hate to medicate. Both of my wrists and 4 fingers are constantly swollen also due to arthritis. Gin is my drink of choice but, I'll try doing the golden raisin soaking.

I pray sincerely that this helps you....even a little help is good.....

But I've been taking vicodin, (hydrocodone) since 2007 for osteo-arthritis as well as a vertebral subluxation.....the pain is aften debilitating. The coming cold weather has been filling me with much dread because my pain levels often get quite bad in the winter time, as well as during rain.

But we've had a lot of rain lately and temps in the 20's and 30's....and I'm still in SHOCK that my spine is virtually pain-free. I can only think that it is the raisin therapy because I've not been pain-free in years. I pray with all my heart that you get the same relief!!

Just want to add.....I've also read that you need to be diligent with it and to give it a good six weeks or so before deciding if it works for you....
