Adam lived 6,000 years ago, as the Bible gives his genealogy.
The Hebrew word for 'day' in the bible is YOM and it also means ERA. So if you were to say the earth was created over six eras(6 billion years) or six days, you would write it in exactly the same way in Hebrew.

The trees in the garden of Eden represent NATIONS.

One of the big lies of the false priests is that Adam was the first man. He wasn't. He was created on the eigth day(in the eigth era) Read Gen 1 and 2 and you will see that Adam and Eve specifically were only created in Gen 2, way after mankind was first created in Gen 1.

People don't understand the fact that the earth and all the people were created for a specific reason. 1/3 of the angels rebelled against God. These beings will not experience the second death, for they are in hell for all eternity. Bad people won't go to hell for eternity, as they will experience the second spiritual death. Only the transgression of the unforgivable sin, gets one the just reward of going to hell for eternity.

The reason the earth was created is that heaven has a need for more beings to replace those that rebelled. WE have been given the opportunity to apply for this great opportunity. It is almost as if we are applying for a job.... lol, except that the exam requirement test is what we know as life. lol.

Do you understand that life is an ongoing process of CREATION. We are still being created. The end result will be that some of us will be as angels in heaven.
