Re: Is anyone else bored to death with life?
For the past several years (I'm 32 years old), I've found myself incredibly bored with everything life has to offer.

Of course there are things I enjoy, for a while, but there is nothing I really look forward to. Everything is so boring to me. Every topic, subject, activity... life itself is boring.

I'm not depressed. I'm just bored with living.

I don't welcome death, but I don't fear it either. And I can tell you right now that I do NOT want to come back again.

It's just too damn boring here.

Anyone else?

Seriously, what about WWOOFING in another country?

A few hours work a day in return for accomdonation and food. A great way to learn/experience a new lifestyle/culture/language and it can be done with the least money possible too!

The same principle is "Workaway" which is the same but is not solely about farms/organic farms but also other type of work.

There are several websites about these kind of things. It might be interesting to take a look and see if its for you :)

I am extremely spiritual now due to the utter boredom with life.

I am starting to look inward. I'm going within, because everything external is a huge bore!

If one stops and thinks of bad and boring everything is you sooner then later eats your own head. You do not have to be depressed to feel that this world got to be the last planet in this entire universe that got anything to offer.

Everything you are is a lie, your are lied to everyday from birth and onward. Think about that, this with kids and family. I never thought I would get myself into that mess.

Guess what, I got a wife I love and a 4 year old kid that I love equally much. They are the only reason I keep on going. Get a wife you like and can stand more then 4 hours per day and make some kids as there is no hobby on this earth that can save you from that kind of boredom.

I'm not bored.. I'm just incredibly tired.. my soul is completely exhausted. I feel I've been through thousands of lifetimes spanning millions of years, and yet, here I am, now.

I just try as best I can to be love and service.. but I am so tired. I just want to rest. Finally..

Problem is easy - you are concerned about yourself, find someone else to be concerned for.

Volunteer time to those that are unfortunate and do not get out. They would love having someone to chat with for a hour or two a week.

Get out of yourself and into someone else's self.

To all those who have said that they are bored with life - is it actually boredom or hopelessness? i.e. that there is no hope of fulfillment or happiness at the end of any contemplated course of action.

Hi,

Strange you mention that because i feel the same i think that something major is coming soon and that the reason i was here for how bizarre!

Also many folks are saying that on different places.

Yeah! I have the same feeling. Actually I feel that things are beginning right now. I get very often "flashbacks" from "future". So I have seen things in my dreams, and they happen in real life months after that. Now they are almost everyday, and I have a feeling that time begins to compress to singularity. Same time I have a strange feeling, that everything is going to end in these times. And that end of everything would have been many times, but some how the forces who keep up this Earth experiment have redirected the future so, that the end has postponed many times. We are waiting for something big to happen. Can't explain it too well.

I feel the same way. People busy themselves with such nonsensical things like going to Disneyworld or shopping for the latest fashions or going out to eat.
They act like all these things are heavenly but to me it's all boring. I feel like an old wise person in a world of people who never grew up and never will.

Maybe it's the medications in the water, air, food, drugs. Maybe their IQ's are falling every year while mine (ours on GLP) isn't (aren't).

I don't want to get a dog to occupy my time. I don't want anything. Everything I always thought I wanted was either taken away or I never got in the first place & I'm fine with that. But I've lived enough, I've seen enough, I've read enough. I've had my fill of life.

Unfortunatly, I believe in reincarnation, espeicially the part where if you choose suicide you come back with all the same problems to work out but in much more difficult circumstances. To give an analogy:

You are now one of the kids digging and feeding off a mountain of refuse in Mumbai like in the movie 'Slumdog Millionaire'.

My only wish is that at the end of this life some entity in charge of my future will look me in the eye and say..

" Damn boy, you Really did hate it there more than most!. time for you to move on to the happy planet with the other graduates"

Fat chance.

Do you have kids?

I'm thinking a family is supposed to take your mind off it for another twenty years or so until you're too tired to care about being bored.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1323328

No kids. Absolutely no interest in having children, nor getting married.

I just want to be alone really. But yes, I would imagine having a family would take your mind off of it all.

I don't understand why people do it, to be honest.

Meaningless ennui ftw then.

For me, it's more a feeling of not wanting to start anything new, struggling to maintain interest in what's currently on the menu.

Maybe population reduction is to be achieved by boring people to death?

Re: Is anyone else bored to death with life?
Hey
I'm 29 years old and I feel you're pain. I'm the same way.

I totally understand what you're saying.
I know that some people have recommended picking up a hobby but you are way beyond that.
It's like picking up a hobby or even looking new traits is to be able to show to your friends and the world you can do this.

Anyways you are way beyond that. I think we've hit a point in our life were we've acknowledge that we don't need to buy this or that(most people spend many many hours working to buy that new car, etc). We are doing alot of thinking and realized whats the point of all this?

We have went so deep in ourselves to have come up with this.
We aren't on the surface anymore. We aren't saying, we are bored..lets go shopping or even pick up a hobby thats gonna take some months to perfect but yet we are questioning the point of life.

Honestly speaking, I don't understand the purpose of life either.
I know the guy was speaking about learning this and that and we aren't there. We are looking at the big picture.
It just doesn't make any sense to be here and do what?
Learn this learn that, buy this-buy that.
Go here, go there. None of this can hold meaning to us.

I know maybe this sounds insane but I been so bored out of my mind lately and finding things to take up my time is pointless because it still doesn't answer the question as to why we are here.

Since I am so bored and keep questioning this over and over....I really came to this conclusion that the universe knew what it was doing when the creation of life comes into play.

Materialistic things are boring.
But kids and family is challening and they are also full of life.
I think if one choices to be single, they better be ready to embrace the party world for many years to come.
If not kids and family is the other option, if not we must enjoy being lonely or we are going to be bored out of our mind.
Now, I don't care to party. I find the club scence very very boring. I dont want to get married or have kids (not at the moment anyways) so I get very bored. I keep questioning what is the purpose of life? Life in general. I'm not asking whats the purpose of my life.

Thats where you are..you are so beyond everything.
The materialistic stuff that usually fills many voids in peoples life, doesnt work for you nor I.

You must be a old soul.

I know some people have their addictions and don't get bored but I guessing you dont have any addictions.

And life is pretty boring. Picking up a hobby is not going to do either of us and good. Mb it may take up a lil bit of our time where we won't do as much thinking but you're still going to be bored.

You are way way above this world.

You are not entertained, you are not pleased with the materialistic things.

YOu want to know the purpose of life. When you figure it out let me know. Most people are easily amused and def. work all the time to get the materialistic things. You've managed to somehow escape all that and look from within.

I just don't see the purpose of working to buy things that I don't care for.

I dont see the purpose of going out all the time or the purpose of filling my life with materialistic things.

I guess one must find their soulmate to make life worth living.
I think we are just on a different page where as everyone else seems to be easily entertained with materialistic things and fulfilled by money.

Re: Is anyone else bored to death with life?
"Turn to God" - HAHA - God was made up by greedy people wanting to control the bored masses thousands of years ago. Nothing has changed - nothing will change.

Everything has an equal and opposite reaction so even if you WILL it to stop, the complete opposite will happen, to balance out your desires, somewhere else on this stinking planet.

I am absolutely BORED. I don't care if I die or live.

Wouldnt it be interesting if they gave people the chance to make that decision.I know I would swallow that pill! Not because I'm depressed but I would rather leave the stupid people here that seem to get ammusement out of this place.

I struggle for nothing and could have anything I want on earth and I know that by the time I haave it many have shed blood, sweat and tears to make not even enough to survive and I feel sick thinking about it.

The system is wrong. We must reduce our population, live and co-provide in local communities and not sacrifice millions for out creature comforts. Volunteers are never bored - Paid workers are bored.

It will have to be one hell of a leap for everyone to want to go backwards and reduce what we have. We create all these things because we are bored, we want new but the new is making us more bored.

Its all basic evolution. We are all programmed to want more... to make it to the egg first, to win and be valued. How will we reverse this desire to want less for the greater sanity of everyone.

Also - I think everyone has got to start putting the feelings of others first. Even I have hurt others by my actions because I was lonely and searching for some kind of saisfaction to my boredom. In those moments I am not bored but I know my actions has caused pain elsewhere. Its all very wrong. I am scared there is no answer. We are all stuck in a neverending circle like mice on a wheel in a cage.

It's called globalization. The niche, affordable opportunities that one seeks to expand themselves with as a huma being are almost are gone unless one has the mentality of a Walmart shopper and is too stupid to know the difference, or are rich and and can spend tons of $$ to delve into the new experience.

PS = I'm done too. Fed up, sick of it all, most people are clueless, dysfunctional, and selfish, and work is constantly downsizing and upgrading. Know what I mean?

Now mind you I do live a balanced life as best as I can. But there are no opportunities where I live to make any kind of positive difference in my life, while working and maintaining a household. but I'm working on it.. there's got to be something..

Sure I've done some volunteering. and still do.

i feel anyone in this thread's pain about being bored with life......to close ones who don't understand you can sound sad/ pathetic - "get a life syndrome" i call it - but its really no joke......

i have found this woman called helen evans who does hand analysis readings, she tells you what your life purpose is, what's stopping you from living it and how to dissolve those blockages to reach that happiness and fulfilment you're seeking......her website's called "step into your light"......and it doesn't matter where you are in the world you can get a reading, they send you out a hand print kit......i haven't had my reading yet but don't mock it until you've tried it, the testimonials on her website speak for themselves......and she charges a LOT, but offers a payment plan if you cant afford it......i'm hoping she's gonna be a life saver!!

Re: Is anyone else bored to death with life?
I am so glad I found this thread. I can really identify with the OP.

I am 34 and for at least a few years now have alternated between feelings of extreme boredom and hopelessness with life. I have ephemeral moments of happiness, but that doesn't seem like enough to make it all worth it. Like the OP I am not depressed (mostly), I have no desire to die, but I often feel ambivalent about living and find myself asking the cliched question: "Is this all there is?"

I do not have children, but would like to some day. Have to find the right person first though. But, I don't want to assume that children and a family is the answer, because I have a good feeling that it will be a temporary salve.

I have tried so many ways to distract myself: I've taken classes, I take lessons, I read tons, I come up with inventive activities to do with my friends, but I am tired! I volunteer to help those less fortunate and I donate money to worthy causes because I feel guilt at times about how lucky I am and here I am whining about it.

I shy away from sharing these feelings with others because I do not want to seem ungrateful. I am so thankful for all of the good I have in my life: the basics of food & shelter are met, I have a well-paying job (that I don't find fulfilling), good friends (but, very few that I feel I can really count on through thick and thin), I get to travel internationally when I have vacation time (and this is when I really come alive), but it just doesn't feel like it's enough.

I can also really identify with the feeling of excitement that something really good is going to happen, but I've had that feeling for over a year now and I'm still waiting. Haha.

Re: Is anyone else bored to death with life?
I recognise a lot from all previous replies to this topic. I've tried years to extract these kind of feelings I share with most of you. But it all comes down to this:

I am not only bored with life, I welcome the thought of 2012 being the end of the world. Even though I realise this won't happen, I still look forward to leaving this place for good.

I have a near-perfect wife, no kids (why put another person on this already overcrowded hell of a planet?), a job I can't seem to like so I only work part-time because I just want to be able to pay my bills. But overall I shouldn't complain.

Still deep down inside something keeps reminding me I'm wasting my time here chasing some kind of illusion everyone else seems to be living.

If only we could let nature sort things out like it did before technology..

I was also totally bored with life, and I´m just 18 years old.. but then I got a summerjob on a factory where I was so physical that I just laid on the sofa all day afterwards the first weeks. After a while I noticed that I felt much better psychic, and most importantly I felt happy.
When the summer was over I started school again, and now I feel the same as before I started to work.. so I recommend that you try some kind of work that really tires you out, at first you might find it stupid. But after a while you´l feel much better! :)

I hate a stomach problem that robs me of my ability to enjoy life, but even if I didn't, a life having to work and interact with others is 'meh' .. I just don't find small talk interesting at all and yet it seems like everyone in society bullshits around the clock, repeating the same jokes and stories ad nauseum... a lot of talk with not much substance... ideally I'd like to quit my job, move to a warm climate, live really cheap, and relax along the beach, ride the road bike (which would be potentially hazardous without insurance) Jog, lift weights, cruise around on a small cheap inflatable sailboat, escape from the hustle and bustle, nonstop stimulation, never ending hamster wheel that the typical person seems to run on...

I find good hard exercise really relaxing, I suspect I'd enjoy home construction in the deep south too, as I love the heat. But then there's the whole bullshitting thing.. I'm not interested in cracking jokes about sex all day, I just wanna work.... I love cleaning the house, working in the yard, landscaping, making myself useful especially outside. I don't really like overtime, working indoors in factory settings, being on someone else's schedule...
