Re: Is anyone else bored to death with life?
It's frustrating, not being able to summon any enthusiasm or excitement for anything this life has to offer. I'm successful in a business/material sense, have two terrific kids, and a wife who loves me. On the surface I have everything to live for...but it's becoming increasingly difficult to pull myself out of bed each morning to meet another pointless, boring day.

The things to which people assign importance just don't matter to me anymore. It's not that I hate anyone or anything, I simply can't be bothered. Believe me, I wish I could find things that mattered; things about which I could get excited or worked up; even things that aroused anger in me...but I can't.

It seems like a foregone conclusion (to me, at least) that it's just a matter of time before boredom and ennui get the better of me and I "check out." I know there will be people I leave behind who are devastated, but I'm sure they'll get over it.

Re: Is anyone else bored to death with life?
For the past several years (I'm 32 years old), I've found myself incredibly bored with everything life has to offer.

Of course there are things I enjoy, for a while, but there is nothing I really look forward to. Everything is so boring to me. Every topic, subject, activity... life itself is boring.

I'm not depressed. I'm just bored with living.

I don't welcome death, but I don't fear it either. And I can tell you right now that I do NOT want to come back again.

It's just too damn boring here.

Anyone else?

Mass media feeds a steady stream of peak-state vicarious living that is more glamorous, exciting, adventurous, etc., and always with a nice soundtrack, which makes real life pale by comparison. Add alcohol and drugs to that and it's a recipe for apathy. Cut out the mass media, alcohol, and drugs and go spend time in the mountains or at the beach. It will only take a few months to get back to reality and reset you biological, mental, and spiritual defaults.

Do you have kids?

I'm thinking a family is supposed to take your mind off it for another twenty years or so until you're too tired to care about being bored.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1323328

No kids. Absolutely no interest in having children, nor getting married.

I just want to be alone really. But yes, I would imagine having a family would take your mind off of it all.

I don't understand why people do it, to be honest.

The excitement is there, but you've chosen to observe instead of participate. Myself and a small team in Florida are attempting to break quantum loop gravity this years on a NASA grant.

Be your excitement.

Re: Is anyone else bored to death with life?
a song by the 1960's LA group LOVE:

The Daily Planet

In the morning we arise and
Start the day the same old way
As yesterday the day before and
All in all it's just a day like
All the rest so do your best with
Chewing gum and it is oh so
Repetitious
Waiting on the sun

Down on go-stop boulevard it
Never fails to bring me down
The sirens and the accidents and
For a laugh there's plastic Nancy
She's real fancy with her children
They'll go far, she
Buys them toys to
Keep in practice
Waiting on the war

I feel shivers in my spine
When the iceman, yes his ice is melting
Won't be there on time
Hope he finds a rhyme
For his little mind

I can see you
With no (hands)
(face)
Eyes I need you
You're my (heart)
(face)
Look we're going round and round

Yes, truly done with this crap.

Extremely boring, has been for years already.

Where are the concrete changes? Where are masses of awakened people making it happen, helping and supporting each other?

I've got no motivation left for anything anymore.

Re: Is anyone else bored to death with life?
Over my decades of boredom I've pinpointed a few issues that seem to be the root cause.

Society is a closed-loop.

We have a limited range of experience available to us, by design.

Our creativity is suppressed or funneled into the mechanisms that keep us on hamster wheel.

Our dreams and hopes are stolen and sold back to us via cheap knock-offs.

There is no fulfillment in being a slave.

There is no fulfillment in living to work.

There is no fulfillment here at all.

Having kids is just bringing more slaves into the meat grinder.

Having a family is what's left from the engineered isolationism we face as a species.

And well, rampant engineered stupidity is boring.

I was wondering if someone would mention this. I am extremely spiritual now due to the utter boredom with life.

I am starting to look inward. I'm going within, because everything external is a huge bore!
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1185559

I know how you feel. This is exactly how I feel about life now. There is nothing new in this density and in this planet. I am done with human dramas, this does not tickle my being one bit.
I too am not with deathwish, and I do not afraid of it when it comes, I am not into suicide, just spending my days one by one, working, socializing.
But in the end of day.. i feel.. I have learned my lessons, this class is dismissed.
BTW: I am 36 yrs old male. I am physically and mentally in great shape.

Re: Is anyone else bored to death with life?
sounds like we have some 'anhedonia' sufferers, its a medical condition.

"The Institute of Psychiatry in London completed a study in 2005 that looked at the brain activity of those diagnosed with anhedonia and compared the results to those gained from healthy subjects. They discovered that the brain actually works differently in those suffering from the disorder. These differences were found in three key areas:

Ventromedial prefrontal cortex: Deals with empathy and negative emotions
Ventral striatum: Signals reward
Amygdale: Handles mood changes and helps to forget recent negative events

In those with anhedonia, the prefrontal cortex had difficulty in processing happiness and had to work harder than normal. As well as this, there was less activity in the ventral striatum and the amygdale. These changes disrupt the brain’s reward system, making it less likely that any positive emotions are felt regardless of what the patient is doing. This breakdown then becomes a key component of depression as the patient cannot gain any pleasure out of activities that would otherwise have been enjoyable."

google 'anhedonia natural treatment' for some non drug approaches to dealing with this problem.

good luck!

Re: Is anyone else bored to death with life?
I must also say, after pondering this for years, that it's obvious that some of us are forced to take more than our fair share of this crap, since so few (even among those having some level of spiritual awareness) are actually awake, meaning that they would be ready to create the kind of world we all need in order to feel happy and able to express ourselves.

Been waiting for years, doing my work alone with zero resources, being so patient I'm now beginning to doubt if there's any point in "letting things proceed on their own pace". Nothing seems to have come out of that strategy.

I'm ready to be mad now, friends.

Damn, OP. Sounds like you read my mind. Only reasons why I haven't put myself out of my own misery is because of family and the thought of having to be reincarnated again makes me sick. Better to just stick this lifetime out and hope I'm not forced to come back again.
And no, I'm not depressed. Just tired of everything.

I ain't got no fun today
It's just like yesterday, oh yeah
Only different shades of grey
I'm bored right out of my skull
I'd have to get high just to be dull
I'm institutional
My TV screen spins around and around and around and around...

I didn’t read the entire article, but if you’re suggesting that there is something “off” or unhealthy about us because we feel things differently and aren’t pushed into shallow bouts of excitement by the mundane and unintriguing than you can keep the diagnosis. Anything involving a minority group is not inherently flawed. Maybe we are more enlightened, curious, awake, spiritual or even just imaginative. I don’t doubt that our brains would look different, but that doesn’t mean that we need a chemical correction. Gaining happiness in the form of "smiley pills" does not yield genuine happiness. I know what is meant by “ignorance is bliss,” but I still don't want it.

Bored with your safe, predictable life? Tried everything and found it wanting? Poor little babies. Go to Africa and work in a refuge camp. Walk out your comfortable back door and visit those who need comforting in your community. Go help an addict get clean. I doubt the mamas in Syria are complaining about being bored. You need a perspective shift!
There are reasons to be depressed. I don't want a rewind here either. But not because I'm bored. I fucking VASTLY overestimated my ability to handle the shit I signed up to do this roll on the wheel.
Bored? Geez! You can read GLP, stalk doom, wallow in catastrophes. Study the past; envision the future. As I used to say to my kids when I heard "I'm bored...
"Go baby, go baby. Go! Go! Go! ". Find your inner enthusiasm! Fly your freak flag.
