Bored with your safe, predictable life? Tried everything and found it wanting? Poor little babies.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 6318379

WTF are you talking about, dude?

If you just knew how fucked up my life situation has been for about 15-20 years already.

At least ask before assuming.

Or, continue acting as a jerk if that's what turns you on.

Re: Is anyone else bored to death with life?
For the past several years (I'm 32 years old), I've found myself incredibly bored with everything life has to offer.

Of course there are things I enjoy, for a while, but there is nothing I really look forward to. Everything is so boring to me. Every topic, subject, activity... life itself is boring.

I'm not depressed. I'm just bored with living.

I don't welcome death, but I don't fear it either. And I can tell you right now that I do NOT want to come back again.

It's just too damn boring here.

Anyone else?

Sorry Finland. I was just expressing irreverence, my bad. I am sorry for your bad times. I have had my share, trust that, if not my frivolity. Life can leave a bitter taste and lots of open wounds and I am sorry to have rubbed salt in yours. I was replying to OP and whiny little girls. And I am, by the way, an OLD girl (62)... not a dude. But I like that you called me dude. I feel cool.

Strange. The feelings of discontent expressed here.
I feel it too. What's our purpose? What's next for growth?
What can we little people do to head off the prison/slave/grind the Bilderbergers have us bound into?

I feel it too. Every day the thoughts of "bummer, another day".
I've been trying to do the out of the system life.
I'm comfortable, fed, housed, the furnace is running.
But damn I'm bored.

Studied the 2012 thingy for over 30 years. What's coming? I'm not sure but it won't be easy or fun.

Feeling awfully alone in some ways. My Grandfather passed in October. Most of my few freinds have gone too.
I've got a sweet GF, I think she's the biggest thing keeping me trying these days.
Going to a 2 week industrial job over Christmas and New Years. About 12 days. Some hard work and long hours for good pay should cheer me up for now.
Also hoping to get on my first Hydro turbine job right after (a dam generator), close to home, right after that. I geuss I should work more, I do enjoy my craft and hard work.
It's just that "work sucks, but I need the bucks".

What's coming for 12/21/12?
Fukk I don't know. Been odd studying and prepping for it and (for so long, since the late '70's)now just holding my breath like everyone else.

Do you have kids?

I'm thinking a family is supposed to take your mind off it for another twenty years or so until you're too tired to care about being bored.

I'm 41 and have two kids aged 3 and 6...I'm also bored with everything.
It's all just buy, buy, buy and spend, spend, spend. A pathetic and futile waste of an otherwise potentially useful and interesting existence.

No, I don't drink or do drugs anymore. My life got much better after that. I wasn't hard core, but I did a little bit of pain pills, some alcohol. I was miserable.

Re: Is anyone else bored to death with life?
Boredom with life? Boredom with life is a cop out.
If you're bored with life, do something you'd never imagine yourself doing, something crazy that completely blows any impression you have of yourself away, and enjoy the experience. Skydive, hike a mountain, steal a car...
There's way too much anyone can do in life simply for the experience. If life sucks and you justify it with boredom, that's just coping. Becoming spiritual is not a bad thing, but in a case like that, it's just the next step in a false sense of self worth. Self worth is earned experiencing EVERYTHING life has to offer.
Beer + GLP makes me ramble.
Life is short... that much is obvious, especially as a GLP'er, so take no prisoners.

This is quite offensive. You seem to be implying that the one who started the thread is a whiny little girl because they are 32 years old. I have similar feelings and I'm younger. I've had them for quite some time. But age means little to me regarding results of contemplation and philosophical questioning. In response to your other post, I'd advise that you didn't recommend visiting impoverished areas with miserable people as a cure for the miserable affected by life's doldrums. Misery + misery = more. If one is to visit a refugee camp I'd hope it would be for selfless reasons anyway. Let me explain; we are tired of being here. And the idea of "here" includes everything existing here. If we could find fulfillment we wouldn't condemn "here," just the slipperiness of fulfillment itself. What we are searching for is not here. As I've said in a previous post I wouldn't doubt that our brains are structured differently (not flawed or illness stricken). Maybe we crave what you can't comprehend. I'm really not trying to demean you mentally. I promise I'm not. I'm just saying that maybe we're simply different. I try to understand others; I only ask that you do the same for us.

Bored with your safe, predictable life? Tried everything and found it wanting? Poor little babies. Go to Africa and work in a refuge camp. Walk out your comfortable back door and visit those who need comforting in your community. Go help an addict get clean. I doubt the mamas in Syria are complaining about being bored. You need a perspective shift!
There are reasons to be depressed. I don't want a rewind here either. But not because I'm bored. I fucking VASTLY overestimated my ability to handle the shit I signed up to do this roll on the wheel.
Bored? Geez! You can read GLP, stalk doom, wallow in catastrophes. Study the past; envision the future. As I used to say to my kids when I heard "I'm bored...
"Go baby, go baby. Go! Go! Go! ". Find your inner enthusiasm! Fly your freak flag.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 6318379

Yeah, you don't get it and this isn't helpful.

I have volunteered in Africa and I volunteer stateside, as well. It is at least one thing that makes me purposeful. But, I have to have a day job to pay the bills too. Unfortunately, volunteering still doesn't mean that the boredom with life and the feeling of "what is the point?" goes away. As a matter of fact, it can exacerbate it. You wonder why some people are put on this earth seemingly just to suffer. This thread is not about self-pity or lack of friends or a life, it's about a deep, intrinsic feeling that there's got to be more to life than what we currently experience and fleeting moments of happiness or filling lives with activities as temporary fixes isn't the answer.

Re: Is anyone else bored to death with life?
Dear Original poster,
I relate to what you are saying. In the past two years I have taken to heart the teachings of Eckhart Tolle (who really just restates Jesus and the Buddha for modern audiences). As he suggests, To a huge degree, spiritual growth seems to involve dropping the ego. But ego goes deeper than most suspect. When you truly reflect on your life and your motivations for doing things it all seems to boil down to enhancing the ego; the sense of "me". It is the little "I" that feeds it's sense of importance by dwelling on slights, victory, anger, superiority, etc. Most human activities are about promoting the ego or this little "I". When you have dropped sufficient amounts of ego, you find that most of what you do is about feeding the ego (which makes you miserable when it's not being fed). Think about it, most of what we do is to puff up our sense of importance. You have kids because you think you are "supposed to", because someone told you what is expected, so you get social approval. (parents, don't lie, I have a daughter and her friends all suffer the scars of neglectful parents. Rich, poor, creative, dullard, they are all there to take what ego building they can from the experience, not give 200% selfless love). You "have to" make lots of money because people will admire you. You have to be beautiful so people will admire you. You have to be the most active member of your church so people will tell you what a good person you are. You have to get good grades so people will approve of you. I was a fairly successful artist until I realized I was only doing it to get people to admire me. When you drop ego (in the Buddhist sense), There is an uncomfortable period of needing to find a new reason to do things. Ego is the engine of most of what has been accomplished in the world. But it leaves a hollow feeling when the applause dies down. You either buy into the vicious cycle and keep going back for the fix or you go deeper into your self to find truth (what ever that is) for yourself. Boredom is when you realize your motivation for what you were doing was very empty. You need to find a new reason to do things. Perhaps the way out is to simplify as much as possible. What do you do that is purely motivated? You eat, deficate and sleep. Maybe have sex (though that is a loaded with baggage area too. You see, hear, smell, taste and touch (just try not to pass judgement on what you sense). Do all these things at their simplest level and then after some time (only you will know) see what grows out of this naturally, on it's own, without you thinking about it. Wei wu wei. You are on the first steps of spiritual growth that many (MANY) will not understand. You are one of very few. Be kind to yourself. Thank you for beginning the journey of awakening.

Re: Is anyone else bored to death with life?
Bored with life all of you. Why? I have read your forums. You all are healthy and smart. Only boring people get bored . Get out! Experience life! See it for what it is! It is full of sadness and happiness! Travel! Be there for your family! You are what makes others go on! Understanding life is bitch! It's a game! You don't get to decide what happens and what sadness you experience but you are in charge of how you handle it! You can let it make you crash and absorb it or you can be better. It's your choice what you take and give back to life not anyones else, not your spouse, parents, your kids, it's you, you are in charge of change, so change it, you are not alone, don not be an island we are onw in the eyes of humanity. We are all together and we can make a difference, get out and do it!

Re: Is anyone else bored to death with life?
Thank crap I found this thread. I was feeling like life was just a series of fleeting experiences that couldn't in anyway influence the person I have become and eventually who I might (or might not - ha ha) become.

But this thread in 3 mins of reading has reminded me how many pathetic shitbag of humans there are and I feel great.

'I'm not depressed, just fed up of existence - not wanting to die, but not afraid of it'

What a mental patient argument. I think that if your life is that. You would be clinically depressed. But if you're so in denial, try doing something truly dangerous. - like actually life threatening. Not skydiving. That's staged and 99.99% safe.

But the great cop out is.... 'That sounds boring'

No. 'You are boring'

It's probably that simple. (This post is impossible to respond to correctly as you can only contradict one, thus proving the other. If you're alive, you haven't tried had enough, if you're dead, then I'm freaked out that you're typing a repost)

Re: Is anyone else bored to death with life?
I have felt painfully bored with life, on and off, for about 11 years (since I was fifteen). Sometimes, when it gets really bad, I care about accomplishing next to nill of these "experiences" that make up my everyday life and withdraw myself from almost all of my friends and family.

I dig myself deeper and deeper into this state of mind, this horrific aching boredom. Unable to shake the blanket of blah that consumes me.

I daydream of sensational things happening, fire in the skies and in the Earth below. Zombies eating the brains of my so-called "loved" ones. Everyone dropping dead from a sudden outbreak of deadly gas. Aliens landing on the roof of my office and beaming me into outer space to perform a series of tests on my human body. Endless GLP visits help during these episodes.

Sadly, all of this seems favourable to leading about this drab role I seem to have been cast in. Any attempts to "spice things up" (in a positive manner) get met with disastrous consequences. So, what's the point?

That sums up life philosophy for the most part: What's the point?

Oh my fucking Godless, yes!. Anyone that has awakened to any degree is aware that 'LIFE' here is anything but what the word normally implies!.

My earliest memory back in '58 is standing outside at age 2 looking at the architecture of the houses on my block with an adult-like cynical summing up and thinking: "Is this all they got here??".

I was a true Iconoclastic Contrarian ..I hated just about everything that reeked of humanity on this planet from then on and most people were just 'things' to me. If I ever were to have a tombstone it would read 'there's nothing here, time to move on'

I have been waiting for the ships since the 11-11-92!. I don't care if they're real or not it's the principle that matters here! . and that would be hope for a future Utopia utterly DEVOID of the endless drudgery that exists for most of us on the planet now. All Bob Dylan wanted was to never have to do anything twice ..and FUCK!, I live in Northern California, we are ALWAYS a full decade ahead of the rest of the planet!!

Are Sheldan Nidle or Mike Quinsey for real?. All I know is that when they explain how our lives will be in a future, post First Contact Earth..it describes the world I was expecting to be living in when I popped out the pussy chute!

Hell YES I have NO KIDS!

REMEMBER! if you actually Liked being here you would have never found GLP to come here and read my long boring post.

Strangely enough I am the same way OP and I am turning 26 this month. I really have no interest in anything anymore, I mean there are subjects that peak my interest, but to really get involved it seems I have to really push myself. I can't even read books anymore because they don't keep interested. I hate to classify it as boredom, but I guess it is what it is. life has become boring with all this bullshit going on.

If you really classify all that as boredom, well at least read www.futuretimeline.net

If that doesn't solve your boredom problem, then it is safe to assume nothing will.
