"CARACAS (Dow Jones)--Venezuela's health minister said Wednesday that an AH1N1 outbreak was under control even as diagnosed cases of swine flu jumped to 923 and a local group of medical professionals blamed the government for failing to take preventive steps after a worldwide 2009 flu pandemic.

"The situation is totally and absolutely under control," said Health Minister Eugenia Sader, adding that eight people have died this year in connection with the virulent strain of influenza, commonly known as swine flu, with six of those deaths attributed to the recent, month-old outbreak.

After the government's initial reports in mid-March, the number of swine flu cases has quickly climbed. Before Wednesday's updated figures, health officials days earlier had confirmed 712 diagnosed cases. "

Not Scared

Not funny. Had the flu for five days. I thought I was getting over it and it came back with a vengence. It's one of those TMI things...let's just say, I moved my office into the bathroom. I couldn't decide which way it needed to go for three days.

It's just not funny.

My three year old got it too. She was sick for a week and is now on antibiotics for an URI and ear infection.

It's really not funny at all. And we faired well.
