The story goes like this:

The Israelites stole a piece of technology from the Egyptians which contained an entizised demonic ego within and was able of many wonders. At the same this happened, the destroyer cyclical planet was passing through our solar system and caused a great cataclysm that destroyed Egypt and allowed the Israelites to escape.

The Israelites believed this entizised demonic entity contained in the Ark of the Covenant was God but it was in fact the devil. They worshipped it as God in their scriptures and now a whole bunch of dumbasses do the same expecting some sort of reward, but apparently the technology from the Ark is long gone, that entity doesn't seem to exist in this dimension anymore.
