Another thing you have to consider is the instant panic versus long term health issues the Government has to consider here.
Think about it, if they suddenly started releasing masks, pills, suits and home safety advice along with dire warnings we know are warranted, the first thing would be panic....911 would be jammed, riots, looting, hospitals would be crammed to the gills in hours----all the lovely hallmarks of chaos.
Many will die horrible deaths needlessly. The country would be in complete gridlock to go..........where?
Thats the other side of this coin, there really is nowhere to go for the average joe, nowhere to hide, nothing to shoot at.
All the basic precautions anyone could take are so easy to find online its pathetic.
Some of us had it rammed down our throats as children.

Op youre right about the 2 day time span for any given event....I see it happen everyday...so do many others.
Thats what makes this incident so much more sinister....people think that it will kill them in minutes. (It will if youre in the wrong spot at Fuku)
And when it doesnt, they think that everything is just hunky dory and forget about it. Only to remember suddenly a few years down the road when cancer or other genetic ailment strikes them down...or when their children are born with birth defects beyond belief.
Some still wont get it.

The panic that would ensue from an "official warning"
--or the--
The long term effects of an unwarned population?

Either way we STILL get nuked...

I hope they have some new medical technology coming up.... as they have chosen the latter.
