Lincolnshire coast vibrations uk, email from British earthquake society
I said i would update when i had a reply, lol, its not the reply i was expecting, their email says it is possible that there are vibrations going on but the market rasen data station is not reliable as it is right by a train track where they transport heavy loads of stones and this causes rumbling and spikes in the data which should not be there.

who? me or them?

the thing that puzzles me is that the spikes corresponded to a norwegian data station which a poster kindly put up the other night.

post the email like i did a few years back when they gave me a bs explanation for the 'explosions' in the english channel which were causing EQs

can't remember the thread now unfortunately, but that was utter tripe as well.

Dear B,

The activity that you have observed on the LMK seismograph is most likely caused by background noise. Unfortunately, this station is located fairly close to a railway line that is used for conveying train-loads full of stones. It may well be the case that you did experience something but, whatever it was, may have been so localised and too small to be recorded by other UK seismograph site.

Regards,

G

Hello, could you answer a question for me please, I have been feeling vibrations in the ground and am wondering if these correspond to the spikes in the short term station data charts, I am nearest to the Market Rasen station, I have compared this one with other stations around the UK, the others show flat lines, market rasen shows a series of spikes.

So, are the spikes just small vibrations which don't show up as actual tremors like the 2.2 which is showing on the recent uk earthquake list for Dover?

Thank you

Regards

Becky

Why the heck would it be sensible to have it near a rail line!!!! Duh!!!

It's like the seismograph in Bilibino, Russia. It's always wobbly and must be strapped to the back of a donkey travelling up and down a rocky road!

well, I'm not saying it isn't possible to have a data station positioned where as they say, background vibration can affect the data, but then you wouldn't know what was really tremors, from the trains going past.

Regardless, I still think something is going on out at Dogger Bank.

let's just assume it isn't for now, even if it is.

bgs are bullshitters

i've seen it time and time again.

if it is 'near a railway line', let's find out the train times, and correlate them to the spikes.

That sound interesting, do you recall what you were discussing? If it was a few years ago, was it about the 5.4 at Dover which caused quite a bit of damage? Didi you see there was a 2.2 at Dover a couple of days ago?

Thread: ENGLISH CHANNEL - Feb 08, 2008 - Time: 07:19:06.1 - Mag: 2.5 - CONFIRMED EXPLOSION!

i can't find the thread I posted the email in, despite searching all terms to do with 'confirmed explosion' and 'english channel', the thread seems to be gone, unless it's under a totally different title, but that thread above is talking about the exact same incident.

NIT even makes a reference to the thread i started, which was quite a big one if i remember correctly.

These seismometers are placed so as NOT to be interfered by localised sources such as road traffic, trains, quarrying, straight line winds, etc. BGS is bullsh.tting on this one, almost as laughable as their explanation of the channel explosions thinking explosives experts are on a boat daily blowing up WW2 mines. In the middle of one of the worlds busiest shipping lanes, and they didn't bother putting out a public notice for this?

wooh now that thread IS interesting considering that off the coast here we have three earthquakes of 2.something confirmed which would have been taken from the market rasen data station, in the past TEN DAYS.
