Was with mistersplinter when he saw them. Awesome sight!! At first you would have thought it was a rainbow, but was like one I have never seen before.

I'm in west central Ga and we had some weird clouds this morning. Thunderstorms came through and there was like four or five layers of different kinds of clouds. Some were the prettiest silky mother of pearl color. Does that count as rainbow clouds? My kids even commented on them on the way to school.

OP

Where are you, I'm in Savannah right now. Just looked, don't see them here.

I work in the Boro, that is where I saw them. They faded as I was driving home, approx 1:30. I am scanning the skies at intervals now that I am at home. I have a real damn camera here and will get pics up if it happens again.

Thanks for the info, OP. I'm in Florida but my son and daughter-in-law live in Ludowici with our granddaughter and work as contractors out at Ft. Stewart. Appreciate the heads up.....;o)

Is Georgia one of the few states without radiation? I noticed it was found in all the surrounding states like Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina and Alabama. I have not seen Georgia listed as having radiation rain, milk, or water yet.

probably just hasn't been checked and/or published yet.

I checked this out over the last few days and was surprised as well, but if SC and AL and FL have it, how could GA not?

I hope they fared well in that fire last month, FloridaGirl, and you are welcome. I am nearing 40 and that was my first encounter with the clouds. I must say it startled me a bit, but you can bet if I see them again you'll get another heads up--with pics!!!

could have been, but everything I have read say sundogs occur when when the sun is low in the sky. This was straight up and happen @ 1pm.

Whatever it was, it was awesome and I hope to see it again.

Re: Rainbow clouds in south east Georgia
I saw this for one hour straight on Thursday of last week on I-65 between Montgomery and Mobile. It was a round rainbow that stayed in the sky in the same place regardless of the other clouds moving and changing around it.

I got tons of pics, some better than others. How do I load onto GLP without an account?

You would have to start a photobucket account or something similar. Upload the pic there, then link them here.

I'd love to see them if you get them up.

I do a good bit of sky watching, but I do admit, mostly after dark. I will certainly be more observant in the pre-dusk hours now.

It is good to hear from someone else with Boro ties. I appreciate the reply.

I was with my friend when I noticed a rainbow cloud in the sky. Having read this thread a few days before, I gasped, held her hand and said.. look, a rainbow cloud! She took pics! We concered that we had NEVER seen a rainbow like it in our lives. Just one cloud was coloured in rainbow colours, within a heap of other clouds, and part of a surrounding was shining too. The cloud were shining in 4 of the rainbow colours, but there was no evidence of the rest of a rainbow, or finish of a rainbow in the sky. It was cloudy, sunny and dark grey clouds above, but then the blue sky broke out between the dark grey clouds, and there was still absolutely NO other sign of a rainbow in the sky, other than in the cloud!!

AmaZing, but very scary with occuring world events!

stay safe.

Re: Rainbow clouds in south east Georgia
I have been watching the global seismic map and the EMSC (Euro earthquakes) and Geoscience Australia. Our country is relatively inactive in an earthquake sense but yesterday the state I live in had its biggest in 70 years, 2 only hours apart. I have just seen my first rainbow cloud which was preceded by rain.

Our Aust breaking news site (3wsDOTnewsDOTcomDOTau) is going crazy with horrible reports of crimes that seems unusually high for our country. I believe that the clouds are warning signs in the skies, just like in Revelations 12:7. Take these warnings from your angels and prepare yourselves for the 13th verse.
