Possibly a pile of witness stones, used in the old days as markers for finding property boundaries.
Then again, maybe a grave.

Crime scene? What the hell are you people smoking? Who the hell takes the time to bury someone under rocks? Probably an old grave, or mine marker.

right, which is why I am ruling out crime scene.

now, since you said mine marker............I am about 10 miles from one of the first gold mines in the US. [link to www.nchistoricsites.org]

================================================

Mebee you found the miners cache of unprocessed raw gold.

What better place to hide it than in a grave looking place.

WTF dude,,, I would dig it up,,, take your metal detector too

Who really knows what you might find there ya know.

This might just be your ticket to retirement.

BUT REMEMBER THIS DUDE

Whatever you find,,, DO NOT TELL ANYONE WHAT YOU FOUND<< OR WHERE YOU FOUND IT

GETIT ??

Good luck man,, and keep quiet about it ok?

peace
Each time a person stands for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he or she sends forth a tiny ripple of hope. And crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring, those ripples build a current that can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance. Few are willing to embrace the disapproval of their fellows, the censure of their colleagues, the wrath of their society. Moral courage is a rarer commodity than bravery in battle or great intelligence. Yet it is the one essential vital quality for those who seek to change a world that yields most painfully to change. Yeah take a metal detector and have a look around it.

Part of me would be very curious the other part of me would not want to disturb a grave. I wouldn't want to disturb a grave if there were nothing to find but bones. Why not let them rest in pieces...

It could still be a crime scene, an old one, but a crime scene.
Just Saying...........
