DIDN'T read all the posts/responses. What i did read had NO MENTION by you or others of WHAT mental condition is this girl friend that lives there/mother (?) of your son.
That is the MOST LOGICAL place to start, IMHO !
The fact that you seem to be split, brings to mind 'JUST WHAT would she DO to get you back, caring about things' , SHE feels are important. It doesn't matter how long you have known her, what she says or does when your together. SHE may be the one possesed by Katie, and doing the physical things YOU feel CAN'T happen !
Think about it .... HER !

GF can reach the places mentioned to write on stuff, GF can put toys outside window, Pretty easy to start there. ..Lets eliminate the GF before you start saying it is something paranormal. And perhaps GF is messed up in the head or something. That is where I would start.
