Yale Physics/Astronomy Grad Student killed by lathe...
[link to dartreview.com]

I've seen links that suggest she was into whales, birds, was doing her thesis on dark matter, worked with NASA on zero g stuff...
Stories from friends about how OCD she was, an amusing anecdote about her study to find where to put her alarm clock in her room for maximum effect...

But was killed in a metal workshop in the middle of the night, alone, working on a lathe with her hair down?

Yeah.

Right.

It could happen.

In the spirit of GLP, however, one has to wonder.

Interesting. This story is turning to quicksilver.

Drudge had TWO stories on it earlier this morning, I saw it there first. And now BOTH are gone. Stories remain that were before and after it...

That's some gruesome way to go sheesh! I'm pretty much guessing that even in VoTech that in shop class lthey teach safety first. What the fuck is wrong with Yale. Too stupid to teach safety first.

I hope the girls parents sue the hell out of Yale.

The Dartmouth article posted at 3 am said she died of asphyxiation?? THis reminds me of that woman killed by homeland security in the airport who died when her "handcuffs asphyxiated" her.

So... lets see... her hair caught in the lathe, wrapped around her neck and strangled her? I don't find that believable.

Shit happens. Years ago bending over your running car engine while you were wearing a tie could also be fatal. Power tools are dangerous. Google "Power Take Off" and see how many farmers get their arms ripped off.

That's sad that happened.

But I does sound weird. Like she would have known better.
