Pole flip coming. Take a look at the global wind map. [link to earth.nullschool.net] Rotate it north so that you can still see the top of the US, but more importantly the area to the east of Nova Scotia. Pay attention to the orange area denoting higher wind speeds. I think this is what is supposed to be over the north pole and this year it has shifted south-east. That's why we are freezing our buts off in the south this winter. While this is happening, the true magnetic north is moving the opposite way, towards Russia at a rate of 40 miles per year or more. Now it is what they call 5b leaning more towards 6. The 4 wasn't on the USDA chart, rather observations by my aunt and those who lived here in the 60's and 70's. They had huge gardens. Even before the USDA changed the zones, they were using a zone 6 for their times starting back in 2009/2010, not sure which one for sure. Most of those huge quakes we had, IMHO, moved the USA more to the south. Yesterday it hit 67 for us. At 5pm the front was coming through and it was funny to watch the numbers on the news. Thought not my area, it was for Denver. Downtown was 52 and DIA was 26, which showed the front had hit there but not downtown just 25 miles away. We at that time had dropped to 24, as we are further north than the below sites. it was just funny to see how much cooler that air was. Right now Cheyenne is 9 above and we are 25 for my area. AKObserver User ID: 11993547 United States 02/25/2014 12:17 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Morning All! We are movin' and shakin' up here in more ways than one! Huge Landslide Photographed in Alaska [link to news.yahoo.com] The scientists estimate that the slump contains roughly 68 million metric tons of rock, which is equivalent to roughly 40 million SUVs, geologist Colin Stark, a researcher at Columbia University's Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory, told Live Science last week. The geologists estimate that the landslide started at roughly 9,800 feet (3,000 meters) above sea level on a nearly vertical cliff, and then ran for roughly 3 miles (4.8 kilometers), wrote AGU blogger David Petley, who is also a professor of hazard and risk at Durham University in the United Kingdom. The landslide churned up a lot of ice and snow, and appears to be as much as 43 feet (13 meters) thick in some locations. But fresh snow has already begun to bury and hide the landslide, the scientists say. [link to news.yahoo.com] |
