Prayers and Much Love to you all Thank you AKO! I did not mean it just for me and Gomez. We have a tornado on the ground and it is heading in his direction so I was focused on that at the moment. He is a little northwest of me here in the Huntsville area. It was heartbreaking last night with the tornados in AR and elsewhere. I am sorry for what your family went through, but am glad they are safe. I truly wish safety for everyone effected!!! I remember when we use to get these type severe storms every ten years or so, now it's every dang year!!! Add that to all the other weather issues worldwide and I don't know how anyone can say something is not up. Perfer et Obdura;Dolor hic tibi proderit olim.Fortes Fortuna Iuvat! Went north of us by about 2 miles. Get ready for round 2 today. Hopefully it's not as bad as yesterday. Glad you are ok!! I heard Charity Lane up in Hazel Green got a little messed up yesterday, but nothing like Athens area. We are all good too. I was pretty stressed out when Tuscaloosa was iffy there for awhile. I feel so bad for the young 21 year old student who died. He did everything right. He was with a friend by campus riding the storm out in the basement when the retaining wall collapsed and killed him. He was an attractive young swimmer for UA and he will surely be missed. It did not help any that during this time one of my sons was out eating close by the campus, and I could not reach him for three hours, but he was ok. I could have boxed his ears for that. Lol. My other son at the dorm was shaken up a little, but that is because he was in the house when the tornados hit in 2011, and it took the house and several of his friends. So, it is understandable. All is well, but I pray for the families that were not so lucky the last several days. Blessings to everyone at FOG! I hope we all have a safe and peaceful summer. Keep your eyes to the sky this afternoon and night. Gabe is in the mountains of Georgia, very rare for a tornado to hit there. He would just need to watch out for winds taking tree's down. I am south of Atlanta, about 40 miles, and so far we have been spared, just some thunderstorms and rain, wind was bad this am in my area. I can say the prayer warriors in my area were all together and on their face's before these storms...God is Awesome! |

AKObserver User ID: 57543070 United States 04/30/2014 02:22 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Morning Fog Family So glad everyone is safe Thought this was interesting... a hmmm moment Much Love Earthquake in USA on Wednesday, 30 April, 2014 at 16:29 (04:29 PM) UTC. Description Analysis of current behavior at Mount St. Helens indicates that the volcano remains active and is showing signs of long-term uplift and earthquake activity, but there are no signs of impending eruption. Since the end of the 2004-2008 dome-building eruption at Mount St. Helens, scientists at the USGS Cascades Volcano Observatory (CVO) and the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network (PNSN) have been monitoring subtle inflation of the ground surface and minor earthquake activity reminiscent of that seen in the years following the 1980-1986 eruptions. Careful analysis of these two lines of evidence now gives us confidence to say that the magma reservoir beneath Mount St. Helens has been slowly re-pressurizing since 2008. It is likely that re-pressurization is caused by arrival of a small amount of additional magma 4-8 km (2.5-5 miles) beneath the surface. This is to be expected while Mount St. Helens is in an active period, as it has been since 1980, and it does not indicate that the volcano is likely to erupt anytime soon. Re-pressurization of a volcano?s magma reservoir is commonly observed at other volcanoes that have erupted recently, and it can continue for many years without an eruption. USGS and PNSN are continuing to monitor ground deformation and seismicity at Mount St. Helens. In an effort to learn more about activity beneath the volcano, they will conduct two additional types of measurements this summer. Surveys will measure the types and amounts of volcanic gases being released, and the strength of the gravity field at the volcano. Both types of measurements are sensitive to changes in the amount or depth of subsurface magma. The information collected at Mount St. Helens continues to help scientists interpret behaviors at other volcanoes and to improve eruption forecasting capabilities. Additional research results will be posted in USGS Updates, Information Statements, and on the USGS-CVO website. In a previously planned but related development, an experiment called "Imaging Magma Under St. Helens" (iMUSH) will start this summer and run for the next few years. The experiment, jointly funded by the National Science Foundation and USGS, is designed to produce a better picture of the magma plumbing system under the volcano. It may also provide new insights into the ongoing re-pressurization process. The USGS Cascades Volcano Observatory and Pacific Northwest Seismic Network continue to monitor Mount St. Helens and other volcanoes of the Cascade Range for signs of increased unrest. The likelihood of detecting short-term precursory phenomena before the next eruption at Mount St. Helens is enhanced by the existence of an effective monitoring network established in response to recent eruptions. Efforts are underway to bring networks at other dangerous volcanoes in the Cascade Range up to a similar standard. The USGS and the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network at University of Washington continue to watch conditions at Mount St. Helens closely.
